The Georgia Public Service Commission has voted to impose fees on cellphones being offered through the Lifeline program after it was targeted in widespread fraud and abuse allegations.
The Lifeline (i.e. obamaphone) program is intended to provide discounted cellphone service to low-income Georgians. The new rules, which are set to take effect in 20 days, call for a minimum $5 monthly fee for people receiving cellphones through the program.
State officials say the fee is an attempt to curb fraud and abuse of the federal subsidy, and to discourage customer from having multiple Lifeline cell phone accounts.

Did you see her latest interview? She does have a job and says she is sorry now she voted for Obama. She thought he was just going to raise taxes on the rich, but her taxes went up.

The Tea Party Victory Fund, a super PAC, released a misleading ad recently implying that President Barack Obama was passing out free phones to gain votes.

"Keep Obama in president…he gave us a phone," an African-American woman in Ohio says repeatedly in the black-and-white video.

The text that appears over a talking woman in the video blames Obama for job loss and the national debt.

But as The New York Times notes in an editorial, the Obama administration does not pass out free phones for votes. There is a national program that provides low-income people with free or discounted phones, but it was started under George W. Bush, Obama's Republican predecessor.

20 years ago the program gave you a few dollars discount on your land line. It has now grown to every person on welfare getting a phone, minutes and text service.

Meanwhile many have worked 45 years and retired and are stuck using a pay-as-you-go Boost phone because they can't afford a real phone.

Make sense?

Never worked get a free phone and text service, worked your whole life and get NOTHING!!
