All of this damage, twenty wounded students, with one loon and a knife or two. What? No guns? Say it ain't so. 20 wounded people and no guns involved? Must be some kind of vast right wing NRA coverup. Fortunately I don't think anyone has died yet. So how do we spot the signs and prevent these kinds of attacks? Well...we don't. There are over 300,000,000 people in this country. There is no way to completely prevent these kinds of things from happening.

They have that as a zero tolerance.
.
Kids have gotten expelled even for a toy knife. As well as a plastic knife that was meant to cut food with.
.
http://www.educationworld.com/a_issues/issues... In Winona, Mississippi, a fifth-grader was suspended for a year after he was found with razor blades he had confiscated from an acquaintance who said he was going to use them to hurt someone. One might argue that this child should have turned the razor blades over to school authorities. Then again, maybe he'd heard about the Longmont (Colorado) fifth-grader who, finding that her mother had packed a plastic knife in her lunch box, turned the knife in to her teacher. The child was told that she'd done the right thing -- then was expelled.
.
You can find many reports of various students either being suspended or even expelled for zero tolerance violations. Even when it was accidental.

There are cases of kids being suspended for having a plastic knife in their lunch bag.

I've did that in the link I posted about plastic blades.
.
There was one where the father's car had a fishing knife in it. And the student got in trouble for it.
.
A couple of years ago I saw a case where a student at her school got in trouble for having blades in the car. Thing is, they had been REQUIRED by that school as part of her class as for learning how to be a chef.

From the sounds of things, this kid had untreated depression. Which is a big cause of suicide. As well as violent tendencies.
.
He is currently on suicide watch.
.
http://www.ablxboston.com/national/50034-fran... He allegedly told arresting officers that 'he wanted to die'
Defense attorney Patrick Thomassey described him as a good student who got along with others, and asked for a psychiatric examination to see if he is fit to stand trial.
...Mr Thomassey told GMA today that his client was 'confused, scared and depressed'.

It's amazing that he did all that damage in only about 5 minutes. Imagine what he could have accomplished had he been trained to use those knives effectively.

Amazing that the SOB was stopped by people tackling him.

Those brave heros broke the Government rules that dictate in a situation like this everyone must run and hide.

Running and hideing works UNLESS you are within the kill range of the killer. For those very close to a killer and may soon be killed they might as well attack the killer. If enough potential victims can attack the killer they will be able to restrain him/her and stop the madman/woman.

That would be anyone who uses a knife in their jobs, hobby, or in the home. Including those who use a knife to cut up that steak just off the grill.
.
It would be almost every adult. Be they cook, dock worker, factory worker, trucker, etc......

Actually there are a small number. Many of them are domestic violence victims. Though the knock out 'game' is starting to account for more and more of the deaths.
.
And some of those who hit with a fist, do it to try and shut some one up. Like that guy who died in the UK.
.
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in...
Fists, etc...
2007 2008 2009 2010 2011
869 875 817 769 728
Strangulation
134 89 122 122 85
.
The deaths by fist are adding up. Year by year, country by country.

Compared to the mainland we have a high amount of death by fist and kick. Our knifing percentages are also very high. Most of you mokes wouldn't last a week on the island. especially the ones with sh!tty attitudes with the constant complaining and whining.
Don't let that stop you from coming a dumping your cash on our beautiful island.

Some folks assume that you need a foreign(to the body) object to harm or even kill. As in a blade, firearm, arrow, etc.... They forget that a person can kill with their body as in any part of the body can be used as a weapon. A person can be strangled to death by one's hands.
.
Martial artists are trained in unarmed combat.
.
Also many kids grow up learning how to fight also unarmed. It is in many cases the first form of fighting that some kids learn.
.
One thing, you can kill by punching a person in the throat hard enough to crush their windpipe.

I've lasted over a couple of weeks there.

Guess I better not return if it's not safe.

I'll find a safe place to spend my $$.
