Boy did the Government hit a homer with the Green Line train. It's quick, very roomy, gets me to where I need to go, inexpensive, reduces traffic, quiet, allows traffic to move freely, doesn'r cause traffic accidents, is better than a bus, etc.

It's just wonderful!!!

They are talking about putting in a line on Broadway Ave in Brooklyn Park. There is talk about at least one hundred families are going to be displaced by the line.
.
It is supposed to run right by that liberal arts college aka north community college.

A billion here a billion there who cares, maybe Medtronic?

Their dream is to reconstruct the street car system that serviced St Paul and Mpls when each city had 50,000 residents. Once they waste 20 BILLION on 20 "lines" and highways are still overflowing maybe they will wake up to the foolishness of their plans.

What should have been done decades ago, was to merge the two instead of the back stabbing battle that happened instead.
.
These trains can hold much more in the way of people. And require less city workers to 'man' the transport. Unlike buses.
.
I remember my parents telling me until my mom had to stop working due to my impending birth. That she used to get the streetcar from where my dad used to drop her off at. In order to get to her job. And then she would take one back to where my dad would then pick her up at.

What is needed today is management of mass transit. If there isn't a ROI that shows a profit eliminate the service. Either raise fares or reduce service to match profits. If someone wants to ride they PAY. Oh the do gooders say, we must provide a means to get around for everyone, it's a service provided by Government,

Take a ride on any mass transit, there are always thugs riding for free, you know looking for work. What a joke, they never look for work, that's and excuse for a free ride.

Today if you have a medical emergency dial 911 and help arrives very shortly, unless you are out state. Nobody rides a bus to a hospital..

The Hiawatha smeared a woman, had to back the LRT off her body.

Not so lite after all. RIP, you were at least killed by a "Green Machine".

BTW, once a mass transit service is deemed unjustifiable and terminated then RIP up the tracks and restore Uni to a road!!!

Of course this already happened as a result of the failure of the street car system, those tracks were ripped up. Of course brain dead liberals actually think if they install another street car system it might work this time.

The old saying goes, "if ya do something twice expecting the results to be different the second time" you are clearly NUTS!!! IMHO, either that or you a blooming stupid.

Watching the Legislature reveals the Met Council begs for $30,000,000 each and every year to fund the Hiawatha, keep it running. They always testify that IF they charged riders what it cost to operate it there would be NO riders. They have a threshold at which they say riders will stop using the LRT, seems to me it's $2 and close to that number depending on if it's rush hour or not. Of course the welfareits get free rides to allow them to look for work, ya sure... They never work!! Bums ride mass transit in order to mug, harass, rip off, and act like the animals they are. All mass transit is unsafe, especially during off peak hours.

A guess at the answer to your question if I remember right is like $12 per ride, if there was no subsidy from car users.

Bottom line, socialist Met Council squanders tax dollars like a drunken sailor, the Met Council is NOT elected so we can't get rid of it so Socialism is here in Minnesota and prospering.

What ever happened to there shall be NO taxation without representation?

It's very clear there should be a metrowide vote, the area controlled by the Met Council, to determine if the Met Council should continue to exist. IMHO, all the Met Council does is squander BILLIONS on unused LRT, Rail, bike paths, buses, free taxi service, other forms of mass transit, junk sewer and water projects to 4th ring suburbs, Social engineering, BIG Brother mandates, and other Socialist agenda items.

The Met Council is just another layer of unfunded/unelected Government that makes Minnesota OVERTAXED and unmaintained!!!!
