I agree that any so-called biofuel should be made only out of agricultural byproducts.
But just notice that the agricultural soils aren't all dedicated at food production, we don't eat wood, cotton nor textile plants, tobacco nor marijuana.

Renewable energy works.

OK fool, you build a wind turbine to power your house and write about how well it works. In the mean time if you really hate "Big Energy" then disconnect from the energy wires and pipes that power your house and car. And by the way don't buy anything made or delivered with "Big Energy". And by the way when you need help from police, fire, EMS tell them to come running and don't use any "Big Energy" powered vehicles or equipment to help you out.

Do you know Government is installing recharging stations for electric cars? Taxpayers are paying for these charging stations that can cost $35,000 each to install. One carging station can charge one electric car so the cost of each electric car is $35,000 more than the window sticker. Of course the Libertards power their LRT with wind power for one day. You see they pick a day with perfect wind conditions and pray there isn't a drop in the wind. Of course there is NO WAY to use power from the grid and have it only come from wind power, that is pure BS. If ya think that is true I got a rusty bridge for ya.

America can destroy its economy and not put a dent in world pollution. America must keep its economy strong for now using fossil fuels and set a goal of developing a green energy source that would of its own economics replace fossil fuel as the cassette replaced the record, the CD replaced the cassette. Someone like Kennedy must step up and say in ten years America will be off fossil fuel and with a strong economy.

Correct and in the mean time there are many improvements possible to make burning of fossil fuel less polluting.

90+ residential furnaces, Mini split AC, increased MPG vehicles, clean coal, NG electric generation, TDI diesel vehicles, efficient airplanes (787), LED TVs, LED light bulbs, radiant heating, super insulation, reduction in windows, efficient windows/doors, setback thermostats, white roofs, etc etc.

Not melting away after all:

The IPCC famously claimed that Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035. That date later turned out to be a blunder of epic proportions, requiring a retraction. Now, the results of a new study show that most of the two thousand Himalayan glaciers monitored are in a steady state compared to the results of other studies carried out for the period prior to 2001.

But then again:

WASHINGTON (AP) The huge West Antarctic ice sheet is starting a glacially slow collapse in an unstoppable way, two new studies show. Alarmed scientists say that means even more sea level rise than they figured.

The worrisome outcomes won't be seen soon. Scientists are talking hundreds of years, but over that time the melt that has started could eventually add 4 to 12 feet to current sea levels.

A NASA study looking at 40 years of ground, airplane and satellite data of what researchers call "the weak underbelly of West Antarctica" shows the melt is happening faster than scientists had predicted, crossing a critical threshold that has begun a domino-like process.

"It does seem to be happening quickly," said University of Washington glaciologist Ian Joughin, lead author of one study. "We really are witnessing the beginning stages."

It's likely because of man-made global warming and the ozone hole which have changed the Antarctic winds and warmed the water that eats away at the feet of the ice, researchers said at a NASA news conference Monday.

"The system is in sort of a chain reaction that is unstoppable," said NASA glaciologist Eric Rignot, chief author of the NASA study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. "Every process in this reaction is feeding the next one."

Curbing emissions from fossil fuels to slow climate change will probably not halt the melting but it could slow the speed of the problem, Rignot said.

duh, and the amount of water has always been the same on earth, regardless of its state at any given time.
i just find it interesting that we are setting records for a solid state during a time when alarmists keep insisting that the planet is warming at alarming rates.

it has nothing to do with what i want, son. the climate changes of our planet are out of our control.

i probably would take the palm trees in greenland over the days when the central u.s. was two miles thick in ice, though.

There is not enough land to produce enough "biofuel" for the people.
My understanding is it takes 40 acres to produce enough wood to simply HEAT a house. That doesn't feed the occupants, transport them around, provide electricity for their stuff. etc..

Solyndra went through a restructured bankruptcy, settled with creditors(including laid-off workers unfairly compensated, and downsized.) Solyndra was like the early American pioneers--they blazed a new trail. Solyndra failed, but opened new lucrative renewable energy markets for other solar companies to come and possibly succeed.
"Here's Joe Barton, a Republican congressman from Texas, explaining why the Solyndra collapse shouldn't end solar loan guarantees. Refreshing!" Texas Republican says we should still invest in solar after Solyndra http://grist.org/list/2011-09-22-texas-republ ... via Grist.org
"US solar company Solyndra's bankruptcy filing was a result of a drop in the cost of silicon, not scandal and impropriety".. "The solar company Solyndra recently filed for bankruptcy, which media reports have depicted as the end of solar power in the U.S. This is like saying there is no future for the internet because Netscape went out of business.

The molar-grinding irony of it all is that Solyndra was the victim of a big success -- the price of solar power has fallen rapidly, making more expensive technologies like theirs uncompetitive, but more importantly, making solar power a real player in the U.S. energy economy.

Since October of 2008, the average price of solar modules has fallen from $4.20 per watt to around $1.20 to $1.50 per watt today. These are mind-boggling reductions. And these new prices are resulting in extraordinary market development. As of June, California utilities have signed over eight gigawatts of solar contracts ... half of which are below the price of new natural gas generation. That's right. Gigawatts of solar cheaper than the fossil fuel alternatives." Reports of the death of solar power are greatly exaggerated http://gu.com/p/32xx8/tw via @guardian
In the meantime, Republican House Speaker John 'Boner' Boehner continues to support $2 billion dollars in Government green energy guarantees to bankrupt U S nuclear power company.' Boner' also complained loudly that 'Government shouldn't be in the "business of picking winners and losers in the private renewable energy market". "WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday defended giving government funds to a nuclear enrichment company that recently announced it was filing for bankruptcy, claiming "bipartisan support" for the company's research." LOL! Right, because you can only use them on ONE car , and you have to PAY for them individually!
Idiot."
Excuse me but one car requires many hours to charge, while right in saying you can charge any/many cars on a station the time required to charge ONE car will make it impossible to charge more than one car on a charging station. Read about the technical issues dealing with an electric car so you don't make a fool of yourself again.

Right, bimbo, just like it's impossible to fill more than one car from a single gas pump.

What's your point, other than the one atop your silly little head?

Read about technical issues, then get someone smarter than you to explain it, honey.:)
