Global warming 'undeniable,' scientists say

Full story: TwinCities.com

Scientists from around the world are providing even more evidence of global warming, one day after President Barack Obama renewed his call for climate legislation.

FAILURE is the name for those who invest in cheap energy:

Energy Conversion Devices: FAILURE – On February 14, 2012 Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. and its subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy
Abound Solar: FAILURE - Abound Solar received a $400 million loan guarantee from Barack Obama announced in June, 2012 that it would file for bankruptcy
SunPower: FAILURE – SunPower stopped producing solar cells last year at near bankruptcy restructured only with help of, get this, oil giant TOTAL who owns 60% stake. Irony! Still struggling…
Beacon Power: FAILURE – Beacon Power Corp filed for bankruptcy Oct 2011 just a year after Obama approved $43 million loan Government loan guarantee
Ecotality: FAILURE - ECOtality, a San Francisco green-tech company that never earned any money on the verge of bankruptcy after receiving roughly $115 million in two loan guarantees from Obama

WHY SHOULD AMERICAN TAXPAYERS INVEST MORE INTO FAILURE?

Hey whiner, you whine to my conclusive point that you whine all the time. hhahahahahaha

As I posted before, you signed up to whine.

Go ahead:

International and national efforts to mitigate climate change are making little headway. In response to this slow progress and because of concerns about the local impacts of climate change, states, communities, colleges, churches, businesses, and other entities are addressing climate change directly by developing local mitigation plans.

Are you part of the solution?

best is yet to come--to site but a few of the most recent examples--
even the New York Times---and the National Geographic Magazine---
No right wing rags--have written that such things as solar activity
on the sun goes through phases of heating and cooling Still
Unanswered is what caused that mini-ice age to melt?

maybe because the majority of rational thinkers understand that a problem must be properly identified before a workable solution can be determined.

i haven't seen anyone conduct a study that would show what mitigating man made co2 would do to alter the climate. have you?

you could win a lot of friends and influence a lot more if you have that, one, dale!!

does that answer your question? if not, don't whine about it, okay?!

Opening the outer continental shelf to drilling would generate hundreds of thousands of new jobs, generate hundreds of billions of dollars in government revenue, and bring more oil to the world market, thereby lowering gas prices and reverse the decline of America. Federal bailouts of failing American "Clean Energy" firms (which Obama supported both as senator and president) reward inefficient and corrupt management, rob taxpayers, hurt smaller and more responsible private firms, exacerbate our budget problems, explode national debt, and destroy our US Dollar. Even more importantly, any bailout of such private industry is in direct violation of the constitution.
I don't think you could have packed more lies into one paragraph even with brain_dead's help.

Congress and the various states have restricted or banned drilling offshore. Talk to them.

Penn Central Railroad and Lockheed were bailed out during the Nixon administration.
Franklin Bank and New York City were bailed out during the Nixon administration.
Chrysler-1980
Savings and loans-1989
Airlines-2001
Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, AIG, the auto industry, TARP, and Citigroup; all bailed out by Congress before Obama ever set foot in the White House.

Back to the books, boy, if you can read.

Well thanks for the update, but as your link states, these "numbers are different than those reported by the Global Wind Energy Council, which came out last month".

That's OK, though...small change...just glad to see that you have now become an advocate of wind energy.

What about solar? Got any updated figures on that booming industry?

I'll answer your question.

Why invest???? Because investment brings returns on investment, it's really quite simple. Not investing means there are no rewards to reap. If you do not invest the planting and nurturing of a tomato plant you will likely not have any tomatoes to reap except through pure happenstance.....which you have had no active part in.

The highest cost in the creation of any product is energy, therefore not investing in cheap and renewable sources of energy has the net effect of being a hindrance to economic growth and job creation.......not to mention the pollution and negative effects from the reliance on dinosaur fuels.

The cost of war also goes into the price of a gallon of natural gas or oil.

The GWB admin was chocked full of oil and coal people who implemented their solution to the energy problem and we are in worse shape today because of it.

Amory Lovins:
I recently wrote about—and debunked—the renewables “disinformation campaign” that spreads misinformed and falsely negative stories about the growth of renewable energy. A special focus of such disinformation has been reportage on Germany’s efficiency-and-renewables revolution. The impressive success so far of the German Energiewende (energy turnaround) is an important existence proof for the world, because Germany is cloudy, high-latitude, heavily industrialized, highly competitive (it rivals America’s merchandise exports with one-fourth its population), and the world’s fourth-biggest economy.
Perhaps because German success would therefore belie the supposed necessity of fossil-fuel and nuclear energy, some media regularly report the Energiewende’s failure or supposed impossibility. As Ihighlighted, Germany’s renewables revolution is in fact highly successful and strong as ever, but that hasn’t stopped three myths from gaining traction in the media: 1) Germany’s supposed turn back to coal, 2) how renewables undermine grid reliability, and 3) how renewables subsidies are cratering the German economy. None of those are true, and here’s why.

Even his case of Solyndra is bogus. Two reasons. Even the private sector would have bet on the company, as it had a good product and idea. Only illegal and corrupt 'dumping' by China interfered.

The second is that the PROGRAM was a resounding success with at least 95% success. A much better record for 'venture capital' than the businesses generally make.
