Global warming 'undeniable,' scientists say

Full story: TwinCities.com

Scientists from around the world are providing even more evidence of global warming, one day after President Barack Obama renewed his call for climate legislation.

Since science gave us pesticides making environmentalism necessary in the first place it has to be asked; just how close to unstoppable warming will science take us before they say their climate crisis WILL happen not just might happen? Not one IPCC warning isn't swimming in "maybes". Not once has science ever said their crisis was inevitable, just "could be". If science stopped saying “maybe” and started saying “inevitable” all debate would cease because if it’s not “inevitable” it’s not a crisis. Deny that.

“Climate change has moved into a new and highly dangerous phase and is now the most urgent issue confronting the world,” said Ian Dunlop, member of the Club of Rome and Deputy Convener for the Australian Association for the Study of Peak Oil.

"urgent phase" and "dangerous phase" and "has moved into a phase"
ARE NOT LIKE
"evetentual" "imminent" "inevitable" "unavoidable" "impending"

Since the scientists have said for 28 years that their climate crisis is NOT as real and eventual as they say comet hits are, what is it then? And let's spare the little tiny catastrophic climate crisis for a Harry Potter movie.

*Occupywallstreet now does not even mention CO2 in its list of demands because of the bank-funded and corporate run carbon trading stock markets ruled by politicians.
*Canada killed Y2Kyoto with a freely elected climate change denying prime minister and nobody cared, especially the millions of scientists warning us of unstoppable warming (a comet hit).
*Julian Assange is of course a climate change denier.
*Obama had not mentioned the crisis in two State of the Unions addresses.
REAL planet lovers are happy a crisis was exaggerated.

You were not listening very well to the President giving his State of the Union 2013 address.

"Obama proposed on Tuesday to divert some of the royalties from the boom in oil and gas production to invest in research for electric and natural gas vehicles and biofuels, part of a plan to tackle climate change described in his State of the Union speech.

Obama will ask Congress to make the production tax credit for wind, solar and geothermal power permanent and refundable to try to double renewable energy production by 2020, and in his budget in coming weeks, he plans to propose incentives for state governments that take steps to increase energy efficiency."Check this out: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/50790131/ns/busines...

Look at the fossil fuel usage:

look at the top greenhouse gas emitters:

What do you find to be exaggerated about them? Think hard.

if litesong, or anyone else, brought out studies that answer and address the real questions....just once.... we could see what the response would be. stop speculating! you seem to grope for conclusions which have no basis in fact.

I gotta an idea. Turn of all yout pilot lights and turn on all the gas burners in your home. Leave them open for an hour or so then light up a cigarette. It cannot be guaranteed that your house will explode so there is nothing to worry about. Oh! I'll bet you wouldn't do that. But you are willing to ignore what the scientists say about climate change. What a logical mind you have.

Is It Happening?

Yes. Earth is already showing many signs of worldwide climate change.

• Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades, according to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

• The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. And the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850.

• The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.

• Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss.

• Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana's Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later.

• Coral reefs, which are highly sensitive to small changes in water temperature, suffered the worst bleaching—or die-off in response to stress—ever recorded in 1998, with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent. Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise.

• An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.

IF Global Warming/Climate Change is a SERIOUS problem then take the quickest steps to reduce burning petrochemicals with the least impact on the USA.

Ground all airplanes.

Exactly, this is precisely the point.
Look at all the evidence which clearly shows that for the past 11500 years our Iceage is in a warming (receding) phase. Is this bad? If one 'believes' that at some point in the last 150 years the weather was PERFECT for life on Earth this logically can be considered harmful. If one believes that there is such a thing as a tipping point for a warming Earth then one might also 'believe' this warming is harmful. In other words; Exiting an Iceage is bad if one believes that the science is so robust that it MUST be true. As a person who lacks a degree in climatology all I can do is to have 'faith' that the experts know what they are talking about. Therein resides the issue. To accept and believe in catastrophic anthropogenic climate change based on my faith in the people who proclaim it iseems more of a religious experience than a scientific one.

What scenario would falsify CACC? Until that question is answered... this issue will remain a religious question.

"An instrument near the summit of Mauna Loa in Hawaii has recorded a long-awaited climate milestone: the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere there has exceeded 400 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in 55 years of measurement—and probably more than 3 million years of Earth history." Humans have never lived on this planet when CO2 levels in the atmosphere were at or above 400ppm. Thanks a lot deniers .You just doomed all of us to a death sentence.

Either "blt-grounds" doesn't like airplanes or it likes grounds in its coffee. Too bad, since aviation has worked so hard to raise jet 'passenger-miles per gallon' from 20 to 90-100. Contrast that with the auto industry that has raised corporate fleet mpg from.....what(?)......16mpg to 20mpg........ v. lately to 20+mpg?

For instance, I'm sure none of you would ever be so hypocritical and drive a car or fly on a jet. Which leads to another question.....do you have little generators with pedals to power your laptops?
