Oh noes! The space environment is horrific to life as we know it. Some say it would "fry" the astronauts. But the space radiation is not the only problem, lack of custom gravity, light, food, company, water, etc etc. and the piling wastes for the top consideration.

You know how badly Mars compares with Earth as a human habitat.

We've got to accept this planet is wonderful for us as the home of our evolution.

Did you listen to Gore talk about the sale? He says that network does the best job for climate change reporting.

Gore cautions us how the US networks never brought up the subject during the election saga.

So it was not just a business deal but a passion served for him. Read his new book: The Future.

Yet so many of those here who think Al Gore is right based much of what they believe on emotions and not logic.
Like NASA's point about CO2 level ignores that during Cambrian period that the CO2 levels were fifteen time higher than now. Life by many experts learnings rapidly progressed with the land lush with plant life and insects. A graph with little background is not proof but a form of spin.
http://dinosaurs.about.com/od/PaleozoicEra/a/...
During the Cambrian, many other things were different. It is absolutely illogical to deny global warming or its seriousness on the grounds that climate has changed before or some such crap. MEANINGLESS. You need to deal with the fact that CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is rising at a rate 100X as fast as at any time in the historical record. Far faster than it can be consumed by weathering of silicates or absorbed into the deep ocean. Facts are facts, deniers. Start living in reality and forget your loony conspiracy theories. AGW was statistically proven beyond any reasonable doubt a dozen years ago.

More tortured grammmar; WHAT are you trying to say?

Remember, human emissions are more than 130 times greater than volcanic emissions.

Modern humans have been around from roughly 200 Ky, not millions.

The only thing you're ALMOST correct about is that during our snowball earth events, the last one peaking at ~800-700 Mya, volcanoes kept erupting because plate tectonics continued. Initial volcanic ash cooled the planet, but that settled out. However, those volcanoes also very, very slowly emitted small amounts of CO2, which then stayed in the atmosphere for millions of years; there weren't many bacteria or plants to remove it.

The CO2 eventually went very high (probably over 3K PPB,~8 times what it is now), enough to cause a pronounced greenhouse effect, warming the earth & melting the ice. Without it, given the high albedo from all that ice, the earth would have stayed permanently frozen.

Just like Hoth in Star Wars.

And the Media did NOT edited the tapes, right?

You see? Liberals really believe that they are always the victim!

Was he UNDER drugs? Why were you guys so adamant to hide such info from his autopsy? Because liberalism is based on deception and lies!!!

Did he had tools for stealing car radios? A screwdriver? Why did he had a backpack and a screwdriver?

See? Liberals are brain dead hypocrites easy to fool by the Liberal Media.

If he was a liberal angel, why did your liberal media HAD TO edit the tapes?

See? Liberals are brain dead hypocrites easy to fool.

And you still believe what the media injected into your brain dead head, that he was the poor victim because he was a Liberal and his attacker was a gun armed white Republican.

See? Liberals are brain dead hypocrites easy to fool.

Yes, the carbon we are adding to the atmosphere has been here all along. It was incorporated into plants & bacteria hundreds of millions of years ago. It used to live in the atmosphere.
Yes, CO2 was much higher in the atmosphere in the past, & it was much warmer on the earth in the past. These things are utterly beside the point, however.
Our culture, our agriculture & our infrastructure have developed during, & are adapted to, Holocene conditions, NOT Jurassic conditions. What was perfect for the dinosaurs is way, way too high for us.
We developed and adapted; no species has ever mitigated climate change. All you have are computer models, not physical tests of climate change mitigation.

.
HomoSapiensLaptopicus wrote:
Can we survive with much higher temps? Yes, some of us. But under Jurassic conditions, sea level would be ~75 meters higher. Central continents would dry out, so agriculturally suitable locations would be rarer & very different than they are now.
People might want to move north, especially to places like the northern third of Siberia - OOPS!!! The northern third of Siberia will be under water.
There is a 100.00000% chance this will happen if we keep emitting CO2 without restriction. It may take a few centuries, but it is guaranteed to happen.
The 100% certainty is based on faith, not science.

.
HomoSapiensLaptopicus wrote:
We are doing a very, very dangerous experiment on the only home we have. Prudence alone should suggest decreasing carbon emissions, even if it's only an insurance policy against what MIGHT happen.
Many climate change mitigators don't understand science, that's why they don't know what's an experiment and what's not. Our use of fossil fuel isn't an experiment; an experiment is a controlled deliberate manipulation of a variable while measuring other variables in a system. Our use of coal, gas and oil is life; don't hate CO2, we couldn't survive without it.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Sagittarius

It's important to be discriminating about what you say and believe today. That's because communications are rather strange, with people saying or doing odd things and plenty of scope for crossed wires. Be very careful if you're attending to important details because for some reason your brain may switch off at the vital moment, leaving you prone to making mistakes or losing track of what you're doing. Try to double-check anything important tomorrow when your brain is back in gear.
