Did he or did he not use a gun in the crime for which he was charged? The invitation gimmick is bs. If you live your life with dignity and honor, you don't pull that nonsense even if people told you you're not going to amount to anything. This guy must have fit in really well with the ACLU.

Attended the St Thomas Law School Graduation, Class of 2011, yesterday. No mention of a James Heaton in the list of graduates in the program I am holding in my hand.
No mention of a James Heaton in the two lists of voluntary efforts of individual students. 500 hours would have put him on either list which had a minimum of 100 hrs or 50 hrs.
Maybe there is an explaination of maybe being to humble to accept recognition, but something seems rotten in Denmark about this story.

So in your world, people don't make mistakes? There is no such thing as redemption? You must be a real joy as a friend and co-worker.

Boys does stupid things, boy goes to prison, boy works his butt off and makes something of himself. It happens once in a while, and it is good to see it.

But what is really amazing is the Ruben took the time to actually write about one of them, rather than some two-bit loser who IS NOT willing to work to get what they want, but instead need a hack newspaper columnist to write a sob story about them and how the white man and a lack of handouts have held them back.

He looks Mexican to me. Check his immigration status and the fake documents with the gringo name.

I am filled with pride that Roscoe has earned his law degree and that The University of St. Thomas School of Law is about, among other things, second chances. This is an example for the larger society to follow - affording others a second chance. None of us should be defined by the worst thing we have done.

Try being on the bad end of a gun sometime. You will never have sympathy for any criminal ever again.

Any criminal thug who 'puts me on the bad end of a gun' will most likely never get a chance to reform, just decompose, but that isn't here or there. My point wasn't that I was sympathetic to the kid...I was blasting this idiot writer.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep a copy of this. I will never have him for a lawyer, and if I find him practicing in a court room I shall post it so others can see what this guy really is.

When I get legal advice I seek a lawyer I can trust, Roscoe has proven he is unreliable. You are welcome to use him for your lawyer, but not me. I prefer a lawyer without a criminal record. Your convoluted remarks about people being idiots simply because they disagree with you about the standards they prefer for legal advice informs me you might have questionable mental abilities. People quick to call others they don't know as "idiots" might be looking at the reflection in their mirror.

Anyone who knows me knows how hard I work. Any proof you would like to prove anything mentioned in this story, I can gladly provide. UST Law requires a min 50 hours. Call them and check my log! Good check the Deans list- it is posted on the wall in student lounge downstairs at UST Law MN. The name is Charles Heaton- Not James!

Perhaps your search wasn't fruitful because his name is Charles Heaton, not James Heaton.

This guy you talked so much crap about is a one of the most respected and hardworking attorneys in Colorado. He has worked for the Colorado Public Defenders Office since 2011. He has done about 100 trials and won 92%. He did 4 trials in a week and 42 in a year. He is known a true advocate for his clients and many here in Colorado think he should run for a judgeship or congress!!!!!!!!!!
