Republicans In Collapse as Obamacare Enrollment Skyrockets In December

The Republican plan of running against Obamacare is in freefall today as HHS announced that 975,000 people signed up for health insurance in December alone.

According to the announcement from the Department of Health and Human Services,

As we continue our open enrollment campaign, we experienced a welcome surge in enrollment as millions of Americans seek access to affordable health care coverage through new Health Insurance Marketplaces nationwide. More than 1.1 million people enrolled in a qualified health plan via the Federally-facilitated Marketplace from October 1 to December 24, with more than 975,000 of those enrolling this month alone. Our HealthCare.gov enrollment nearly doubled in the days before the January 1 coverage deadline compared to the first few weeks of the month. December enrollment so far is over 7 times that of October and November. In part, this was because we met our marks on improving HealthCare.gov : the site supported 83,000 concurrent users on December 23rd alone.

The entire Republican strategy has been to discourage people from enrolling in the ACA. Judging by these numbers, they have completely failed. Republicans are basing their entire 2014 and 2016 strategies on running against Obamacare. Their plan is backfiring, and they are setting themselves up for an epic backlash.

The success of the ACA will have a profound impact on elections around the country. In Kentucky, Mitch McConnell is defying the success of the exchange in his own state by refusing to talk about anything but repealing Obamacare. McConnell is already tied with Democratic challenger Alison Grimes, and his Obamacare or bust strategy may very well cost him his Senate seat this November.

President Obama trusted his instincts. The president has never wavered. He knows that people want access to affordable healthcare and he is being proven correct every day. Millions of people are signing up, and the Republican Party is being reduced to rubble as the final beam that was propping up their teetering house cracks under the weight of the ACA’s success.

What do you expect? People are being forced to purchase this questionable product by the federal government or be subject to the onslaught of the IRS including fines, wage garnishment or even prison. True tyranny by a government our of control.

How many of the folks who signed up are actual paying customers?
I wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly Medicaid users.

"The Republican plan of running against Obamacare is in freefall today"

No it is not.

In fact, there will be a large number of Dems that will be running from Obama and Obamacare as we move through 2014.

Here is why: Our little group of businesses consist of mostly progressive minded young adults who, for the most part, have voted for Barack Hussein Obama in 2008 and 2012. Most have families to support. Better than 1/3 have children under the age of 12. More than half have mortgages and are what the classic definition of middle class is.

The health insurance policies we offer to our employees have been cancelled as of 12:01 AM on January 1, 2014. A replacement policy has been identified and put in place.

Every single one of the employees will have their health insurance premiums increased by a minimum of 48%- as a direct result of the implementation of Obamacare.

It was pointed out by our insurance broker, at a mandatory meeting for all employees, that the premiums for everyone will be going up considerably, the deductibles for individual and family policies will rise, and there is a very large probability that the company funded HSA accounts will vanish at the close of 2014.

They all know they have been lied to by Obama, and they now know that for a fact.

just watch when they try to use their little number on jan 1, it will be fun to watch all the liberal demo rats try to explain why the voted for the largest TAX increase in American history. 2014 house and senate will be controlled by the CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN party. Time to stop spending.

Even the Dems admit people are being forced to buy a product they don't want. Tyranny. Nothing less than tyranny. And blaming Republicans because,“There are millions of people out there who think it was repealed". They must be the same uninformed voters who elected this administration in the first place.

I think that Ms. Holmes Norton accurately reflects the sentiments of her constituents. Thank goodness she is a non-voting representative in Congress since she represents the District of Columbia.

This woman is another example of the typical Lib mindset where "laws apply to others but not to me."

"Norton was elected in 1990 as a Democratic delegate to the House of Representatives, defeating city council member Betty Ann Kane in the primary despite the last-minute revelation that Norton and her husband (both lawyers) had failed to file D.C. income tax returns between 1982 and 1989."

You are a funny little man. People like you make lots of noise but never back up anything. You don't have the physical power or mental capacity to do anything but call other people names.

The guy you asked about is Marion Barry. DEMOCRAT. Those very intelligent crack smoking voters in Washington DC keep putting him back on the City Council.

Hey Mr. Fake Black Guy...is Marion Barry another of your heroes?

The Slime does insist on intruding into adult conversations, doesn't it? Whether in the guise of a fake black person, which any self respecting black person must resent, or under the stolen names of any blogger whom it feels inferior to. Yes, it is laughable, but not worthy of responding to.

First of all, I did not say that G.W. Obama is a tyrant. He is, however, responsible for carrying on the failed policies of his predecessor which is in turn, leading our nation to ruin.
redeemer wrote:

Secondly, in my not terribly humble opinion, anyone who votes for democrats, republicans, or incumbents is, indeed, an uninformed voter. And Romney is not an idiot. He is also, in no way shape or form, presidential material. Certainly not in the eyes of our founders. As for the "system of checks and balances" you mentioned, it is broken.

The "fine" you refer to is a tax. The SCOTUS said so. That puts in under the jurisdiction of the Internal Reveue Service. That particular organization has the power to fine, garnish wages, freeze assets or imprison anyone who refuses to pay up.

This is a perfect example of the insanity of the writers of the Daily Kos, or from wherever you copied/pasted this piece of crap. In a few months, when people get sick and need to go to the doctor, what do you think is going to happen when they figure out that because of the astronomical deductibles and co-pays, they can't afford to go to the doctor? What's going to happen when people start waking up to the fact that unless something catastrophic happens, they will NEVER receive any benefit of the crappy insurance policy they were forced to buy? Why is it you extreme lefties can't seem to grasp the difference between "affordable healthcare" and lousy health insurance? Go ahead and post these lameazz, fact deficien,t lefty articles all you want. It's not going to change any of the mess that is yet to come precisely because of the UNaffordable care act AKA OBAMAcare.

Oh, ya, right, enrollments are "skyrocketing"......

Give me a BREAK. First of all, most AMERICANS are not subject to this "enrollment". Second, the government has an interest in reporting "favorable" numbers. If the numbers were truly BAD, as they ARE, do you think that ANY government "entity" would be truthful in reporting it?
Seriously??

NO, they won't, because it will KILL all of their CREDIBILITY, and "trust".

Gov. Dayton, in Minnesota, is now blaming IBM, a powerhouse computer manufacturer, for all of the "glitches" in MNSure, promoted by "Paul Bunyan" and "Babe the Blue Ox"....
