I would say "get someone for the future", but since the Vikes only have one more year left in Minnesota, may as well do this...

While I would probably prefer Matt Hasselback, this scenario makes sense. The Vikings are a veteran team, they can't go with Webb or a rookie like Mallett or Locker. Plus, we have holes on the OL, DL, WR, Safety etc...
If we take a QB in the 4th round or later, I would love to get Devlin from Delaware. Let him compete with Bomar for #3. I wouldn't be surprised if Devlin ends up beating out Webb for #2 and we could move Webb to WR.

If they think McNabb can help, great, but they'll still need to address this for the long haul at some point.

I think they should go after Fran Tarkenton instead. Bring him out of retirement for the experience factor.

This story started with Pioneer Press and now it's "heating up nationwide". All the national press is doing is echoing the PP's earlier speculation. Passing on a QB for both of the 1st two rounds won't happen. Frazier has stated repeatedly that he is looking for a "franchise QB" if he thought Webb could be that guy we wouldn't be having the conversation. No way this scenario plays out.

I say focus on defense and hope the offensive line can improve enough for AP to run wild. The Ravens won a super bowl with Trent Dilfer at QB, so it's not always imparative to have a big name QB to do well in the NFL. Especially a QB that tries to do too much and ends up costing the team wins because of their mistakes.

That being said, Joe Webb would seem to be a horrible option in terms of a guy who will throw a lot of interceptions and fumble the ball away numerous times. He could surprise, but I don't think he's ready at all. Sure would be nice if Chad Pennington could solve those shoulder problems.

Well thats one way to ensure the vikings stay out of contention for years to come.

how pathetic. can't this team draft a QB like other teams and actaully dev elope him rather than trading for these washed up rejects from other teams. This franchise will NEVER win a title with this front office, totally clueless clowns.

I have no problem with McNabb, as long as it's just for a year or two, and he's comfortable in that role. However, Walters is the same guy who omitted Marcell Dareus from his list of DLs who could go in the top ten, even though just about everyone considers Dareus the best of the bunch, and he could go #1 overall. Walters also suggested that the Wolves should draft a 6'9" center in the NBA draft, so methinks his opinions on the draft in professional sports are a bit suspect.

Why the heck are they considering V. Young?

This is all Charley Walters. McNabb is washed up, it makes more sense to bring in Hasselbeck than McNabb. And Vince Young,l oh yeah I'm sure a new coach wants to bring a problem like Young in to start his new regime and "solidify the locker room" What a joke.

Donovan's best days are behind him. That being said, the only way the Vikings should go after him is if the Redskins release him. That way, if he works out, great. If not, they haven't given up a draft pick. With the Vikings being an aging team they need an infusion of younger talent. Go Vikes!

Let's throw away more money and not help the team by going after another washed up quarterback that is over the hill. In two years where will the Vikings be. Let bring in some young talent that will be here for a few years and hopefully let us to a superbowl.

I would be ok with either option. Load up on D in the draft get some in house vets healthy and field a dominate D. The vikes could use the same winning formula that the Steelers and Raven used in their title runs. Strong D with a no mistake move the chains time possesion O!!
