But, we've also found at least one person who has been placed in MinnCare, by MNsure, who probably doesn't really belong on the taxpayer-financed MinnCare plan.

Steve Schweda has hundreds of thousands of dollars safely put away in retirement and savings accounts and he tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS "someone with hundreds of thousands of dollars in his retirement plan, you probably wouldn't want to put on welfare. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense."

Yet, Schweda says MNsure officials put him on MinnCare - paid mostly by taxpayers. He says he never intended to sign up for MinnCare, but that's where MNsure put him, "all they have is an income test. They have no asset test. So, it doesn't matter how big of a house you have, it doesn't matter how much money you have saved up, or invested in any form, it is just what your income is," Schweda says.

Schweda says he thinks there are probably many others out their just like him whose health insurance is paid by taxpayers when they could easily afford private health insurance, "anybody who thought about it would not set it up this way. No matter whose money it is, if you just thought about it for a minute, you would say 'this makes no sense.'"

Minor implementation detail..

MNsure is still attempting to insure people:

MNsure offers retroactive coverage for some:

Some Minnesotans eligible for private insurance plans through the MNsure health care exchange may qualify for retroactive coverage, credits or cost-sharing reductions.

Two categories of people are eligible. The first is consumers who have not had continuous coverage since Jan. 1 and unsuccessfully attempted to enroll. MNsure says they may qualify for retroactive coverage as far back as Jan. 1 depending on the date they first attempted to sign up. They must pay the back premiums.

The other category is people who enrolled in qualifying individual market private health plans directly from an insurer, but are eligible for tax credits or cost-sharing reductions because of their incomes.

The poster child for Obamacare?

Flushing another 5 million with Deloitte Consulting, Minnesota got the news that despite Governor Dayton’s boast that MNsure has been tremendously successful, it is evident that his $160 million Obamacare website is still broken.

Fourty one (41) important items either aren't working properly or are not even set up yet. Plans to have manual enrollment (that is on paper folks) contingency plans in place for the November start of enrillment are being worked on.

The insurance company with the lowest rates and most customers on Minnesota’s health care exchange has told state officials that it’s pulling out of MNsure for 2015.

PreferredOne had 59 percent of the individual market for MNsure enrollees as of Aug. 6.

NOT be “administratively and financially sustainable.”

Nuts on!!

Everything the Government does has to be single everything, healthcare, electric utilities, mass transit, fiber broadband, water service, sewer service, street maintenance, police, fire, building codes, regulations etc etc etc....

Government can't compete so they monopolize.

An audit of the MNsure insurance exchange by the state Office of Legislative Auditor:

“MNsure did not appropriately authorize $925,458 of ADDITIONAL marketing work or execute a contract amendment until after the contractor completed the work,” auditors found.“MNsure did not design and implement adequate internal controls over collection of receipts from applicants.”

What is up with 1 MILLION spent on ADDITIONAL marketing? How much are we flushing down the drain just to entice people to buy insurance? I would think that a lot of additional people could have been insured with that MILLION+. Especially when you are pushing very high deductible polices that many lower income people won't or can't utilize because they can't come up with the co-payment.

Advertising for FAILED Government programs, like MnPass ADs on TV. You know those express lanes nobody is using. That everyone payed for and now they are underutilized.. All that sofiticated technology and wasted Trooper time chasing down criminals who DARE tread on the lane THEY paid for.. BARF TIME..

A friend has worked for a major TC hospital for 30 years and he says because of Medicare reductions and MnSure failures they are looking LAYOFFS in his hospital.

Not to worry those health care providers can go to work for Government in a job administering MnSure.

BARF AGAIN!!!!

The scam marches on: MNsure enrollees not properly screened for eligibility

“did not adequately verify that people who enrolled in public health care programs through MNsure were eligible for those programs,”

Sad but true, you can count on Government to NOT MANAGE what they control.

When Liberal Government manages anything there WILL BE MISMANAGEMENT, count on it.

Liberals by nature haven't a clue OR have no desire to manage anything. Therefore Government programs will run out of control squandering tax dollars left and right.

That my friend is why it's so darned important to always minimize the size of Government. Government doesn't waste small amounts of money they squander MILLIONS and BILLIONS.

Ultra high taxes result AND Minnesota becomes a magnet state for "people" who refuse to work.

And then you have the opposite situation. I tried to help my X wife sign up 7 times. She is severely bi-polar, has nothing but her house and 21 year old car. But she gets $600 a month for renting out part of her house and has no proof of income. MnCare took all the info and when I got to the end of the application I got a message saying "we are unable to finish your application at this time." No explanation, and this happened 7 times.

Excellent point. Hadn't thought of that angle to illegals.

They are an instant source of new MnSure customers.

Phocking Government out to waste as many tax dollars as possible.

MNsure is CUTTING its projection for commercial enrollment next year by one-third and says it will make up the LOST revenue by cutting costs and spending federal grant money at a faster pace. MNsure’s budget is $85.8 MILLION for the fiscal year ending June 30.

Throwing MORE tax payer money at this pig:

The author of the controversial MNsure health insurance program is ready for a redo.

Sen. Tony Lourey does not want to overturn the mostly online health insurance sales service, as many Republicans suggest. Instead, the Kerrick Democrat wants it transformed from being a mostly independent organization into a state agency like the Department of Transportation or Department of Human Services.

Lourey is a DFL buffon who lives in Kerrick. Kerrick is in the heart of Pine County. Pine County IS one of the poorest counties in Minnesota, its only attraction is hunting. Lourey uses his legislative clout to stay alive in Kerrick, it's anyones guess how he does that, must be some form of corruption.

Take 23 to Duluth, the historic route, and you will see Kerrick, after Bruno. Bruno had an attraction, the bar, but it burned to the foundation and hasn't been demoed yet, they just leave the mess there.

MnSure recently got a grant from Obama of I think $23,000,000 to shore up the WEB site, more good money after bad....

MnDFL is sooo phocking stupid!!!. Actually it's all caused by Union control of public employees, never should have been allowed.
