Sounds like there will be several contenders for the Darwin Awards this year; its gonna be a toss up between the cartels attacking the Army, and the Somali pirates attacking a U.S. Warship.

When are people going to realize that America is funding this war? If it wasn't for all the college kids in the US smoking pot, the cartels would be out of business.

Prohibition doesn't work, never has and it never will. Plus it's much more than just college kids smoking pot in the U.S. Repeal the archaic pot laws and the cartels will also be out of business.

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera reported head of the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico, ranked 701st on Forbes' yearly report of the wealthiest men alive, and worth an estimated $1 billion, today officially thanked United States politicians for making sure that drugs remain illegal. According to one of his closest confidants, he said, "I couldn't have gotten so stinking rich without George Bush, George Bush Jr., Ronald Reagan, even El Presidente Obama, none of them have the cajones to stand up to all the big money that wants to keep this stuff illegal. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say, Gracias amigos, I owe my whole empire to you."

How come when we aren't doing more to help these poor people. Drug Cartels are going house to house knocking on doors and taking fathers from their families and if the father won't come and work for them? They kill the father right in front of their family. Imagine that happening in your house, in your town, and to your friends, your brothers, your cousins, your nephews, your uncles. Then they use these men that do go (at gun point) to do their ambushes adn they end up getting killed anyway. It's innocent people that are getting killed. This will affect the U.S.

"prohibition" not sure you read ďAndĒ statement, and judging by you spelling, probably can't. He never mentioned alcohol. He was merely pointing out the obvious that the prohibition, be it alcohol in the past, or this preposterous war on drugs has done nothing but drain society with overpopulated prisons, ruined peoples careers and wasted BILLIONS of our tax dollars. The only war we are fighting is against ourselves! I do agree with you on alcohol, it causes more death and destruction in this world than all other drugs combined.
Chemical addiction is a disease, it has nothing to do with a persons intelligence. In fact most chemically addicted tend to be people that have above average intelligence.
Yes "Jack Sparrow" we are funding this war, two times over, by making marijuana illegal we are funding 80% of the Mexican cartels coffers, and by spending our tax dollars on fighting this hopeless war on drugs, and donít get me started on the pharmaceutical companies and all the pills!
Society needs to wake up, we will never stop using drugs, we will never stop drinking, we will never stop popping pills. Why are we fighting this? Do we not learn from our mistake?. Donít you think in this economy that we could use this money on better things!
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Where are our troops to fight these hoodlums? Oh, they're STILL in Iraq and Afghanistan for who knows what reason? Protecting the opium harvests perhaps? Both Bush and Obama are slaves to the military industrial complex and have no exit strategy whatsoever. Vote all incumbents out this fall!

Of course in MN we are busy dismantling the gang database instead of using it to agressively target these lawbreakers.

What should we do? Invade and wipe them out? That will go over really well with the rest of the world, not to mention the American public. And pot is not the problem, they make the vast majority of their money smuggling and selling Cocaine. The ferocious appetite Americans have for this drug is directly responsible for this. The corruption and weak institutions of the Mexican border states allows it to flourish. The Zetas are comprised of ex-Federales (Federal police) and military by the way. They are literally a paramilitary organisation that operates as a cartel. The Mexicans themselves have to solve this in order to have any lasting and real success.

All that needs to be done to assist the Mexican government is to decriminalize possession of personal use quantities of drugs currently illegal, legalize personal use quantities of marijuana and regulate the sales. Remove the enormous criminal profit and you remove the criminal. Release the thousands of people imprisoned for possession quantity offenses and triple sentences for distribution quantity offenses.

This is propaganda. This to make mexico look like the drug cartels are more violent than Americas criminal just us cartels that deal the drugs and terrorise America. they destroy thousands of children and there families because of there sick ideals and personal gain for each one. America must take our country back and create peoples justice systems and end all the criminal just us system cartels in America. they have detroyed generations of our your for personal and agency gain. Under the cover of the law makes Americas drug cartels the worst. Soon only criminals with badges will have guns. Like Jesse Venuta says it is not will it become a officail police state. It is when. We are already there unofficially.
