GOP still defunding ACORN

ACORN may no longer exist, but that isn't stopping Republicans from trying to defund it all over again. From the House Appropriations Committe's newly introduced legislation to fund the government through the end of fiscal year 2013:
None of the funds made available in this Act may be distributed to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) or its subsidiaries or successors.
Phew! That's a relief. God forbid a non-existent enemy of the Republican Party should be allowed to not exist without being defunded. And just in case you're skeptical about this, don't worry, it's totally normal: A spokeswoman for the appropriations committee told Huffington Post that the provision to defund the defunct group was "a typical provision that is included in most appropriations bills."
But if it really is typical to use appropriations bills to go after enemies that no longer exist, why doesn't the bill also include language defunding the Soviet Union, or the Confederacy? The answer is obvious: House Republicans are a bunch of Stalin-worshipping secessionists hell-bent on restoring the institution of slavery.

It's either that, or they're a bunch of politically obsessed idiots.

From your post,

None of the funds made available in this Act may be distributed to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) or its subsidiaries or successors.

Are you saying there have been no spin-offs from ACORN?

Obama's HUD execs deliver $730,000 to ACORN spinoffs

Another $15 billion proposed for Alinsky-inspired groups
Published: 09/24/2011 at 10:30 PM

The Obama administration has given ACORN spinoffs $729,849 so far this year and may hand out billions more in federal cash to these and other Saul Alinsky-inspired organizations, according to award-winning investigative journalist Matthew Vadum.

“Barack Obama is doing everything he can to enrich radical activist groups at the expense of the American people,” said Vadum, author of the explosive new book “Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers.”

Vadum is a senior editor at Capital Research Center, a think tank that studies left-wing advocacy groups and their funders. His book is the product of nearly three years of research and hundreds of interviews.

Get “Subversion Inc.” and read about the strategy that intends to take down America.

“These federal grant recipients are the same left-wing groups that will be going all-out next year in an effort to re-elect Obama,” Vadum told WND.“They will be using American taxpayers’ money to keep Obama in the White House.”

Contrary to mainstream media reports, ACORN is very much alive, though it has changed its form. The shell corporation that ran the ACORN network filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy almost a year ago, but ACORN continues to operate.

As reported in Subversion Inc., ACORN officials openly acknowledge that the ACORN network is restructuring and is re-emerging in an effort to help re-elect President Obama in 2012.

And as WND previously reported, Obama’s new economic stimulus package, the so-called “jobs bill,” contains as much as $15 billion for left-wing groups such as ACORN, Obama’s former employer. Obama has been using his presidential bully pulpit to demand that Republicans in Congress “pass this bill,” even though there is no bill yet. Despite all the rhetoric, the proposed “American Jobs Act of 2011″ apparently hasn’t even been introduced in Congress.

But the plans call for a $15-billion stash to be earmarked for “Project Rebuild,” which would subsidize states, local governments and what Obama’s proposal calls “qualified nonprofit organizations” to redevelop abandoned and foreclosed properties. ACORN has been in the real estate development business for decades and would apparently qualify for funding.

The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) has been in existence since 1988 as a non-profit community advocacy organization. Like ACORN, it got its start by utilizing the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to bully compliance and money from mortgage lenders. In fact, its website brags about its tactics:
“NACA has always taken the junk-yard dog approach – once we grab on we never let go no matter how long it takes. Once the fight was joined, NACA became these institutions’ worst nightmare, doing whatever it took for as long as it took.”

NACA’s founder, Bruce Marks, was a community organizer working on behalf of unions before moving exclusively into the lending industry as a self-described consumer advocate.

There are no subsidiaries or successors of ACORN out there.

ACORN is a sorely missing organization that helped America.

You prove it if you think otherwise.

You can't, but then again you are illiterate to start with.

No one is missing ACORN. The people running the local chapters simply formed other non-profits, some helpful, some definitely not.
