years is the max for killing someone? What a pathetic state.
Driver Leah Colwell killed motorcyclist Jeff Trondson and got the maximum of more than 3 years in prison. At least 70 of the victim’s family members and friends were there to watch as she received the maximum sentence, 3 years and two months behind bars. Trondson, 29, of Burnsville, was killed in June 2013 when his motorcycle collided with Leah Colwell’s vehicle. She was driving drunk. Her blood alcohol level was 0.32 percent, four times the legal limit. Her driver’s license had been canceled after one of her five previous alcohol-related driving offenses.
“The last thing Jeff said to me was,‘I’ll be back in 20 minutes, Pops,’ ” said the victim’s dad, Dave Williams.“The next thing I know, I’m looking at my son dead in the street. Everything I love, dead in the street.”
