King of the Knee Grows will be in his homeland today addressing his peeps. He will use the old excuse of blaming poverty as the reason for his tribes violent nature. In the days before welfare the two could have been linked, but the white folk (like the Irish) worked their way out of poverty. Not the black folks. The welfare system is a job for them and their just violent.

"The president’s remarks at Hyde Park Academy this afternoon will be devoted to the “ladders of opportunity” he thinks will help working families, like raising the federal minimum wage and investing in education, a senior administration official has said.

But the president’s emphasis this week is on promoting job creation and economic recovery, aides say, in the belief that solutions to violence and other social problem hang in the balance.

He and Vice President Joe Biden have made the case in recent weeks that the solution to gun violence isn’t just about gun control, but also about improving access to educational opportunities, social programs and mental health services.

To clear these pathways to the middle class, Obama on Tuesday night proposed creating “promise zones” in 20 struggling communities, helping them develop plans and leverage federal resources to increase economic activity.

Starting in the mid-1960s, however, that image began to change: poverty –- especially welfare — became seen by many as largely an African-American phenomenon. It was also during this decade that the word “welfare,” which previously did not have a negative connotation, became “a political epithet,” according to Sanford Schram, a professor of social policy at Bryn Mawr College.

The reason, experts say, has to do with various social changes that occurred during that decade. They included: a dramatic increase in the number of women and children receiving public assistance, the rise of the notion that people had the right to such assistance, an increase in children born out of wedlock and the presence of large numbers of African-Americans in major northern cities, many of whom had migrated from the South during the 1940s and 1950s.

You constantlu show your stupidity.

USA population breakdown
White persons, percent, 2011 (a) 78.1%
Black persons, percent, 2011 (a) 13.1%

So 13.1% of the population collect 39.8% of the welfare. Right idiot?

Percent of recipients who are black 39.8 %
Percent of recipients who are Hispanic 15.7 %
Percent of recipients who are Asian 2.4 %
Percent of recipients who are Other 3.3 %
Non-Hispanic White or European American 196,817,552 63.7 %
Non-Hispanic Black or African American 37,685,848 12.2 %
Non-Hispanic Asian 14,465,124 4.7 %
Non-Hispanic American Indian or Alaska Native 2,247,098 0.7 %
Non-Hispanic Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander 481,576 0.2 %
Non-Hispanic Some Other Race 604,265 0.2 %
Non-Hispanic Two or more races 5,966,481 1.9 %
Hispanic or Latino 50,477,594 16.4 %

So black people are represented by more than 300% of their make up in the general population(numbers are from 2010)

No other group has a percentage of welfare recipients greater than their representation in the population, not even close.

This seems to be a problem, more blacks by percentage of total population live in poverty than any other group. Maybe the answer isn't more entitlement programs designed to build a permanent underclass and "buy" votes for the democratic party. It would seem the victim mentality is a self propogating model. The low information voters need to educate themselves.

About $59 billion is spent on traditional social welfare programs.$92 billion is spent on corporate subsidies. So, the government spent 50% more on corporate welfare than it did on food stamps and housing assistance in 2006.

That LBJ Great Society thing is really paying off for the black people of this country, 3rd and 4th generation welfare recipients. If it was a pathway to success, I would think after one or two generations, we would have seen some progress. "propitiating"? Nowhere in my posting.

The % of blacks on welfare would be much higher, but drug convictions bar them from collecting federal aid. It's clear that they choose welfare because they are a lazy tribe. Point is the poverty excuse doesn't explain their violent nature. With the current welfare system they will go on expecting free stuff using slavery as an excuse for their sense of entitlement.

Because it is old data, unattributed and plagiarized old data at that. You chose not to find anything newer that cast your hero, Obama, in a less favorable light than this paints Bush in.

I think that is why you posted 7 year old data.

But to the gist of your argument, while corporations got $90 billion in tax credits and deductions, they provided hundreds of billions of dollars to the economy, directly and indirectly.

The employees those corporations employ provide federal and state income taxes, as well as property taxes for schools. This allows the government to spend $50 billion on welfare programs.

How much did that $50 billion welfare investment pay back?
