Organizers of the Million Veterans March sought to distance themselves from the "political agenda" promoted at Sunday's protests at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., criticizing tea party activists for taking over the demonstration.

"The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC [sic] yesterday was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain," the group wrote on its Facebook page Monday morning. "The core principle was and remains about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner. Our love for and our dedication to remains with Veterans, regardless of party affiliation or political leanings."

On Sunday, hordes of demonstrators converged on Washington, protesting the closure of memorials and national parks due to the partial government shutdown. According to news reports, Sunday's event was much more political than previous demonstrations at the memorial. A number of conservative politicians spoke at the event, including former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

“Our vets have proven that they have not been timid, so we will not be timid in calling out any who would use our military, our vets, as pawns in a political game,” Palin told the crowd.

Many attendees held tea party-supporting signs, and at least one Confederate flag could be seen in the crowd. At one point in the day, some protesters took barricades from the memorial and brought them to the White House gates in apparent protest of President Barack Obama

The best part of the protest is when they threw the barricades in front of the White House! They know that OBAMA is behind the shutdown and that he personally told the park rangers to "make it hurt" or else.

The whole 18% or so of things shut down were strategically chosen to "make it hurt". In many cases, some of the most vulnerable members of our society. A despicable action on both sides of the aisle. Congress should all be fired. Every last one of them.

Main stream news aka the ones who bow down to obama tend not to show one of the protesters. One who is a double amputee on a segway carrying one of the barriers via that same segway.
.
Half way down is the one I'm referring to.
http://21stcenturywire.com/2013/10/15/obama-i... One of the most incredible, and certainly the most indelible mark made by any one photographic image from this past weekend was that of a double amputee US veteran, who lifted a barricade on to his Segway personal transport and drove it to the White House.
.
These vets are PO'ed with them being used as political pawns by the libtard's messiah obama.
http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/10/02/the-blame-game... Make no mistake,” he said.“It was the Obama administrations’ choice to barricade this memorial, and it was their choice to lock out veterans across this country.

Yes really, you idiot.

"Veterans marched on Sunday in Washington in protest of the partial government shutdown that has kept them and other Americans from visiting war memorials across the country, with support from several star conservatives."

"In a mean-spirited fit of selfish anger, Barack Obama has shut down our nation’s war memorials,” march organizers said in a press release.“And he has declared open war on our honored veterans. The World War II memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, Obama has shut them all down to force his will on the House of Representatives and, frankly, to get revenge on the American people who oppose ObamaCare and his other naked power grabs.”

You are as dumb as they get, spammer.

Veterans Slam Tea Party Politicians For Hijacking Protest Against War Memorial Closures

After driving the GOP’s efforts to shut down the government over Obamacare, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) headlined a march on Sunday to protest the closure of national parks and war memorials. Cruz and Lee shared the stage with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at the Million Veterans March. The Tea Party was out in full force, with attendees waving giant Confederate flags in front of the White House and speakers calling for President Obama to “put down the Quran” and “come out with his hands up.” One man was arrested at the World War II memorial with a rifle and ammunition.

Apparently, the original organizers of the veterans’ march are displeased with the Tea Party’s co-opting of their protest. On the Million Vet March homepage, the organizers suggest a local organizer invited Tea Party and birther groups against the wishes of the veterans:

The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner.

Knowing that most tea party members are functionality illiterate and have comprehension problems, I'll repeat the official statement made on the Million Vet March homepage:

"The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner."

Members of the so-called “Million Vet March” descended on Washington, D.C., Sunday to protest the Obama administration’s decision to close the city’s public memorials.

Thousands of demonstrators arrived early in the morning and tore down barricades that had been set up to block people from visiting the popular attractions, WTOP reports.

The group said military personnel and veterans are “being used a political pawns in the ongoing government shutdown and budget crisis,” according to a statement on its website.

The group also said it has no political leaning, but believes that the closing of memorials is “a despicable act of cowardice.”

The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner. Mr. Cruz, Ms. Palin and some attendees, including political parties may have not been aware of the goals of the marches which took place in over 60+ rallies across the nation.
