Tiny Chevrolet Sonic helps Detroit shake off rust

Source: AP-Excite

By TOM KRISHER and DEE-ANN DURBIN

DETROIT (AP)- When the word reached the Orion Assembly Plant, it spread along the serpentine assembly line like news of a death or natural disaster: General Motors, the biggest automaker in the world, had filed for bankruptcy protection.

On that grim day in 2009, Chevrolet and Pontiac sedans kept rolling down the line. And 1,700 worried workers stayed at their stations even as GM announced it would close the plant in a desperate bid to survive.

"The unknown was the scariest part," recalled Gerald Lang, who had worked at Orion for two years installing dashboards and doors. "We really had no clue what was going to happen."

There was something else that the workers didn't know: They were witnessing the opening act of one of the greatest recovery stories in American business.

FULL story at link.

The bailout of the auto industry probably did more to keep the US from sliding into a recession than anything.

Only uneducated morons like you that can't even figure out how to use spell check think otherwise.

Then Obama should have stopped them. But he didn't, so now Obama owns them.

Both parties supported the bailouts because they were needed to keep us from a full depression.

Dipshyt. Obama in the 4 years he has been in office has sold out the American economy with his lack of an economic policy. Stick with your childish insults, you know nothing about economics or politics.

I am actually excited about the new small cars like the Spark, and those smart cars. I want to see the Youtube video of the small car being clipped by Volkswagon Beetle and then cart wheeling across 4 lanes of traffic and off concrete barrier. You can then feel for the no pulse and just dig a whole and toss them in. Because they also double as a CASKET!

Any truthfull accident reconstruction expert will tell you the ONLY thing that matters in a wreck is the size and weight/strength of the vehicle you are in.

A VP of a company I used to work at drove a 2 ton truck to work for accident protection.

You can drive dumb in a "smart" car or other clown car that won't protect you in a wreck and DIE while saving gas and the environment OR you can drive a larger car and at least have a chance at survival, especially if a clown car hits you.

Live smart OR die in a coffin on wheels.

You sell those little wheeled coffins??

If you drive one OR a passenger in one you must have a death wish.

OR want to be injured as much as possible in a wreck, you know those wercks that occur MILLIONS of times a year.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Taurus

Try hard not to let money or possessions come between you and a friend today, unless it's over something that has got to be sorted out before it goes any further. For instance, if someone owes you money and has consistently failed to pay it back, this is a good day for mentioning it to them and finding out what's going on. If necessary, you may have to be quite vehement.
