I hope all of you stadium proponents are happy. Our billion dollar corporate "wilfare" boondoggle just became a 2 billion dollar corporate welfare boondoggle. By the time they finish making all of the "needed" improvements to handle this, hotels, roads, transportaton, etc, it might even reach 3 billion dollars of taxpayer money. Watch the sales taxes and fees in Minneapolis go up yet again. And again. And very probably, again.

Don't understand why Government is promoting Pro sports. If you follow the $$ there is one reason, the "Connected" in Mpls own downtown hotels so Pro sports bringing guests to fill their hotels generates a lot of income for the rich, 1%s.. Not to mention bars and eateries. It sure seems like a lot of mass transit is merely for Pro sports games and nothing to do with moving employees to their jobs. You will NEVER see a accurate roll up of every cost associated with the Superbowl but wouldn't surprise me if it was over $3,000,000,000 like you suggest. But how can you put a value on having all those Pro sports criminals come to Minnesota?

If any of the Super Bowl ticket holders stay in St. Paul hotels they won't take light rail to Minneapolis since it takes an hour to get there.

And that is because they installed LRT along a bus route so the LRT has to move both short haul traffic as well as those who want to go from St Paul to Mpls. Of course that means there is NO express transit but only the LRT that has to stop at way too many stops in order to closely replicate the previous bus service. Even then the LRT will NOT move people as effectively as short haul buses and express buses. Government planning by elected officials, stupid.

The express bus service between St. Paul and Minneapolis was one of the most used and cost effective routes.

"Government planning by elected officials, stupid."

Actually, it's government planning by UNELECTED officials, the Metropolitan Council.
