13-year-old expected to survive after shooting

CINCINNATI -- A 13-year-old male is expected to survive after he was shot in the side during an attempted street robbery Sunday night.
The shooting took place at about 10:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Beekman Street in North Fairmount just moments after the victim left a convenience store in the neighborhood, according to Cincinnati police at the scene.
The victim was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for a gunshot wound to his side. Investigators did not release information regarding the teen's identity but said he is expected to survive.
According to police data, the teen is the 22nd person 14 years old or younger to be shot in Cincinnati since 2011.
Nothing was taken during the robbery attempt.
