Hi Zen. I started visiting Topix during the 2008 election and got hooked on it during the senate recount. I've always had a lot of respect for your posts and perspective. I even think I spotted you at a Green Day show at Target Center.

I frequent other blogs as well under registered names. I enjoy the freedom of anonymity here as an unregistered user.

Is that the kind of thing you're looking for?

What exactly are you wanting to hear Zen? I like the fact that I still have some anonymity when I post on here, and some peace of mind that a crazy stalker might have a harder time tracking me down since I am not registered :) I also only use the name "trolls" so I don't think people think of me as a troll, despite the name!
On the down side, not registering allows posters like "Juan/Juanita/Jose/" fake" Capt. Crunch/"fake" Arch on Larch---all one person I believe, to spam the boards with nonsense copy and paste posts, which is obviously annoying.
I think there are benefits to both, but until Topix makes it madatory, I will likely not register.

Thanks, guys, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I also joined up in the spring of '08 and found myself hooked. There is always the possibility of ticking off the wrong person, but the way I see it, I run that chance in person, too. Hey, I did go to the Green Day concert at the Target Center. What a show, eh?

I'm not so certain that the fake Archies and Crunches are all one person, though it could be. I guess Arch and Crunch like the game, though, or else they'd register a name. That would give them some recompense when their nemesis tries to use their names. Oh, well.

The flipside of anonymity on Topix is that it encourages people to say things that they would never dream of saying to another human being in real life.

Registering a name on Topix does not in any way diminish one's anonymity - you can always use a throwaway e-mail address - but it DOES prevent others from posting as you.

The users that experience others posting using "their" names tend to be the more abrasive and radical Topix posters who sometimes go out of their way to irritate others.

A side note: most of the users complaining about others using "their" names are in fact using names registered by other Topix users, so the very people that complain about others using "their" names are in fact using the registered names of others.

Forums that require minimal registration also tend to be better policed as well - posts with personal attacks are removed almost immediately on the Strib site, as well as posts containing hateful comments directed towards groups of people.

At Topix, that is all some posters post - hate-filled attacks on individuals and groups of people. What a sad existence that must be.

Most of the serious non-radical posters have long since left Topix, although I've found Zen's posts to be generally polite and not at all extremist.

Lastly, I can say for a fact that there are multiple people posting as Capt Crunch and Arch on Larch (because I'm sometimes one of them), and I agree that both Crunch and Arch enjoy the attention; that it's a game they enjoy playing. Hell, Arch on Larch did register and use Arch on Larch for a while but now voluntarily chooses not to use his registered name.

Hello. I choose not to register so that there is less of a chance to pin me down on anything I write. We still do have freedom of speech in the US until the teabaggers take over.

Le' juan sorosbot and Zen. I have always used my own name here, and even registered it with the posting site, a criminal le' psycho likes to abuse his knoledge of computers and fake posts with ISP's all over the country and has stolen trhre of my posting names. I hide from no one and am willing to back up anything i say in retort to posting name and anonymous fakes that abuse this site and innocent posters.

I have also have been vandalized and attacked by Le psycho and the progressive Soros nonprofit front Mouthes with criminal intent.

Finding my name is very easy for anyone , including my home address, my wifes name and the nomenclature of my home , all of which has been used against me by Madamans friend Le' jumbo and his Soros progressives. In the last three months I have recieved nearly $1,000.00 in postage theft for unsoilicitd information packets from all over minnesota and the country. These Victims most in minnesota spent $5.00 0n postage sending me packets of their resort that Le jumbo ordered forging my name and address to the request. I have reported the fraud to the US Postal service and the case is very active, The hurting resort owners are not real happy with the criminal Le' Jumbo the criminal vandal
So Zen, Talk to Le' jumbos friend Madaman that actually desrtoyed this site. Not the decent and honest, intelligent and informed posters that post here every day. There has NEVER been a moderator on the Topix site. that is why the criminal le' jumbo committs vandalism while promoting socialist venue written by unsigned other criminal fakes.

A very complete and honest recitation of what Le Jumbo and Madaman did to destroy the old Topix, and what Le Jumbo is still intent on doing today. But telling ZeBirdist about it is similar to praying to a statue of Aphrodite for increased beauty. She has a tin ear when it comes to liberal abuse, although she does comment on percieved adverse conduct by conservatives.
I too, at one time, respected her posts because they were always couched in seemingly non confrontational language, but I notede that at times her preferences were made known, and they were not impartial.
So, I say. to hell with the idea of everyone coming together in peace and amity, we are decended from savages, and the peacemaker is almost always trampled underfoot as the opposing warriors come chest to chest.

So, you've decided to continue being rude to people you disagree with politically, because I don't busy myself calling out liberals for bad behavior? Didn't we just discuss not long ago the fact that I'm not interested in or responsible for correcting the behavior of you or anyone else?

About 80% of what I'm accused of isn't me. Over the last few months I haven't even been on Topix much, yet every time I do log in I see Ms. Crunch whining that I'm posting as her or "ruining Topix".

If madame Arizona would spend more time actually commenting on issues and less time on personal attacks, I suspect that people would leave her alone. She could also [gasp] actually register a name on Topix, then no one could post as her. Personally I think she enjoys the attention.

So, Zen, you really AREN'T her mother? All this time I thought she was your daughter!

Pardon my quote, my you reap what you sow really seems to fit here.

What a sad sackof sht you are. You can't even be honest with Zen. That ISP of Tempe Az.is another proxy that you have aquired in order to steal Capt Crunch's ID. The Soros methodology has evidently gnawed so deeply into your psyche, that you can't avoid lying even when you try.
