You guys need to check that number:
US population between the ages of 18-65 is 197,000,000.
88,000,000 is 45%. Are you saying that nearly half of all working-age Americans are out of work?!? And if you factor in those who aren't looking for work, like some college students, stay-at-home moms, the handicapped that can't work, the percent climbs way over 50%.

Look at the historical numbers:
1980- US population: 227,000,000; unemployed: 61,000,000 = 27%
1990- 249,000,000; 63,000,000 = 25%
2000- 281,,000,000; 69,000,000 = 25%
2010- 308,000,000; 82,000,000 = 27%
2012- 313,000,000; 88,000,000 = 28%
http://www.census.gov/
http://m.research.stlouisfed.org/fred/series....

A bigger population will give bigger numbers, but the percentage has only changed by 2-3% over the last 32 years.

They are all "personal responsability" Republicans out of work sponging off their unemployment compensation. They are waiting for their savior Romney to find jobs for them.

All but a scant few libbers have deserted the forum. Of course when you count the multiple voices of the Slime, only a few existed in the first place, but those multiple voices encouraged the faint of heart to believe that that mob was forming, and so they eagerly jumped in. Now that the Slime has deserted them, they have mostly all gone under cover, waiting for the mob leader to reappear.

It is possible, no doubt. While we are starting to show some improvement, Europe could wind up dragging us down with them. Actually, if Europe drops, then we are all but guaranteed to drop. I think that's why we were lending so much to the EU.
Our debt-to-GDP is about 85% I think, which is better than most of Europe.

The unemployment rate has fallen a full percentage point since August to a three-year low. But last monthÂ’s decline was not due to job growth. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively looking for work.

In April, the percentage of adults working or looking for work fell to the lowest level in more than 30 years.

How would the government know if someone was actively looking for work?

They don't. They just send the checks out until the recipients time runs out and they disappear. Under Obama.. they must be working now because the checks stopped.
