Construction will begin next spring on a new outlet mall near the Mall of America.

The Eagan City Council on Tuesday night approved Paragon Outlet Partners' proposal for a 420,000-square-foot outlet mall near the busy intersection of Cedar Avenue and Highway 13. It will have room for 90 to 100 stores.

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal first reported Paragon's plans in April.

Paragon says pre-leasing is going well, but hasn't yet announced any prospective tenants, according to Jon Hohenstein, Eagan's director of community development. The company has said it will pursue many of the same tenants that have stores at its other outlet projects, including brands such as Barneys New York, Brooks Brothers, Coach, Michael Kors, Neiman Marcus Last Call, and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.

The company wants to open the mall in November 2014, Hohenstein said.

Paragon recently opened outlet malls in the Dallas and San Francisco markets. The company’s principals previously were top executives at Prime Retail, a leading outlet mall developer that was sold to Simon Property Group Inc. in a $2.33 billion deal in 2009.

So nice that the city of Eagan took the land from business owners by eminent domain to install and outlet mall.

Most of the land was purchased from owners that willingly sold. Cedarvale Mall had lost money for years and was nearly empty - Eagan was right in acquiring and redeveloping this eyesore.
20+ owners did not want to sell, about 5 took them to court. Eagan even refused to turn over the valuations they got for "fair" market value, choosing to lowball the owners. Most of Cedarvale was willingly redeveloped, Eagan bankrupted several other owners in the process.

No it isn't a fabrication. Look up Larson Automotive. Check out threads on here from 3 and 4 years ago. Just because you are unable to think on your own other that what the liberal machine spoon feeds to you, you don't get to say everything you disagree with is untrue. Check out the court case. Eagan took the land and didn't do anything with it for four years, then uses it for the grand purpose of an outlet mall. Wow. Eagan is a destination now.

Right. We should believe you. In another thread you claim that Walmart LOST 15 billion dollars this year, which is completely untrue.

You make this stuff up as you go.

I tell you what, you refute everything you disagree with without a shred of back up. I am so happy Eagan has a new outlet mall at the expense of many small businesses in the area. Eagan is such a destination now they will be able to compete with Medford Minnesota now.

Yeah, posting under another moniker really validates your pointless drivel. Come to Eagan, we drove out small businesses, but at least we got an outlet mall.

Eagan used eminent domain to take properties away from business owners. Several owners fought the city in court. Ultimately the owners lost and Eagan used eminent domain to take their property away, and gave it to an outlet mall.

Eagan, come for the eminent domain, stay for the outlet malls.

If you have property in Eagan, I hope they take it away and give it to Grover Nordquist.

I love illiterate teabaggers.

Aside from the other misspellings, tell us what a 'facist' is. Someone that loves their face?
