Noonan: The Sleepiness of a Hollow Legend

I imagine Barack Obama's State of the Union, I see a handsome, dignified man standing at the podium and behind him Joe Biden, sleeping. And next to him John Boehner, snoring. And arrayed before the president the members, napping.

No one's really listening to the president now. He has been for five years a nonstop wind-up talk machine. Most of it has been facile, bland, the same rounded words and rounded sentiments, the same soft accusations and excuses. I see him enjoying the sound of his voice as the network newsman leans forward eagerly, intently, nodding at the pearls, enacting interest, for this is the president and he is the anchorman and surely something important is being said with two such important men engaged.

But nothing interesting was being said!

I'm surrised hathe is doing as well as he is...

NEW POLL results:
Fewer than four voters in ten -- 38 percent -- approve of President Obama’s job performance. Fifty-four percent disapprove. Before now Obama’s worst job rating was 40-55 percent in November 2013. Last month 42 percent approved and 53 percent disapproved (February 2014).

Obama's ability to help Democratic candidates appears limited:

Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll registered a new low for President Barack Obama as his job approval rating plunged to 41%, sinking from the 43% he garnered in January.

•54% disapproved of the job Obama is doing, matching a previous high from December when Obamacare flaws were prominent in the news.
•This is the lowest-ever approval in WSJ/NBC polling for Obama's handling of foreign policy.
•GOP leads slightly when the public is asked which party should control Congress.
-Americans were less inclined to support a candidate if the person had been endorsed by Obama.
-Approval of Obama is particularly weak in the South and Midwest, regions where Democrats could have a tough time defending Senate seats.
-Only 34% said their member of Congress deserves another term.
- 65% of those polled said the country is on the wrong track, compared with the 26% who said it was on the right one.
-This is the highest-ever disapproval rating from fellow Democrats, at 20%.
- Obama's support is softening among blacks, Hispanics, and women.
-57% believe the U.S. is still in a recession.

Don't believe the hype Libby! the wall street journal or shall I say the Neo-wall street journal is now just another one of Rupert Murdock(Fox) gossip rags, and they use a certain poll base to get the results that they want.

The Obama administration has a LONG way to go to fulfill its promises from Day 1 to become the most transparent administration in history.

-the government cited national security to withhold information a record 8,496 times - a 57 percent increase over a year earlier and more than double Obama's first year, when it cited that reason 3,658 times.

-five years after Obama directed agencies to less frequently invoke a "deliberative process" exception to withhold materials describing decision-making behind the scenes, the government did it anyway, a record 81,752 times.

-AP analysis showed that the government more than ever censored materials it turned over or fully denied access to them, in 244,675 cases or 36 percent of all requests.

-On 196,034 other occasions, the government said it couldn't find records, a person refused to pay for copies or the government determined the request to be unreasonable or improper.

-The AP's request to the Health and Human Services Department for contracts with public-relations companies to promote Obama's health care law has been pending for more than one year.

-Requests for files about the Affordable Care Act and the IRS's treatment of tax-exempt political groups have languished in government offices for months. Similarly, the AP has waited for more than 10 months for emails between the IRS and outside Democratic super PACs about tea party groups.

-Last year, the government denied 6,689 out of 7,818 requests for so-called expedited processing

-The EPA denied 458 out of 468 expediting requests.

-"The public is frustrated and unhappy with the pace of responses and the amount of information provided," Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn

The most transparent administration in history?

Obama has supported, continued or expanded almost every policy put in place by his predecessor.(hence the G.W. Obama nickname). This includes, but it not limited to, corporate bailouts, banking industry bailouts, Guantanamo, Afghanistan, supplying weapons to known terrorists (Syrian rebels), extending and expanding the so called Patriot Act, systematic encroachment on Constitutional rights including the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendments as evidenced by the expansion of the patriot act and the recent revelations regarding NSA snooping on American citizens phone, email, and internet use records. Let us not for get his efforts to grant amnesty to well over 25 million illegal aliens.
There has been little, if any, change from the previous administration. So who are the idiots?
The ones who voted for G.W. Obama, twice.
