Congratulations MN House.

Legislator #1: Hey Joe, how can we cause lots more people to become unemployed and go on the government dole so they are forever dependent on government for their survival?

Legislator #2: I know, let's pass a new minimum wage level so that companies invest in machines and not in people.

Gov GoogleyEyes: Hey guys! If you pass tha bill, I will sign it. And we can tell all the dumb masses that we are helping them out. They are dumb enough to believe that one.

Minnesota House passes minimum wage hike

Thousands of Minnesota's lowest-wage workers would get a salary hike and more overtime pay in a minimum wage bill passed by the Minnesota House on Friday, May 3.
.
.
.
The legislation would boost Minnesota's current $6.15 an hour minimum over the next two years until it reaches $9.50 in 2015 and includes automatic raises tied to inflation after that. Employers also would need to start paying workers overtime after 40 hours, down from the current threshold of 48 hours.

But opponents argued raising the minimum wage would force business to cut jobs, ultimately making it harder for workers with fewer skills that need work find it.
.
.
.
Gov. Mark Dayton has said he could support a minimum wage of between $9 and $9.50 per hour.
.
.
.
"The reality is this is a colossal unfunded mandate on the small businesses of Minnesota," Garofalo said. "What the DFL majority refuses to understand is that money does not grow on trees. Someone has to pay the bill."

Pretty funny, you believe paying folks a living wage is evil and machines don't require maintenance, parts, power, and repair....

Guess, YOU'RE for death squads, you just want folks to linger in poverty first, huh ???

PS-$9.19 works fine here, DRAMA QUEEN ~!!

(Of course, it's less than a share of IMMR, since it SKYROCKETED.)

It is impossible to be a christian & a modern Republican.

“Low wage workers need all the money they can earn for basic necessities
of life. When they get an extra dollar in their pocket they spend it
right away for basic needs,” he said.“That dollar gets multiplied
through the economy. Business benefits because demand for the goods and
services they sell goes up significantly.”

Any business paying it's employees minimum wage is relying on
government social services to subsidize basic survival needs, e.g.,
food, health care, etc. that their minimum wage employees can't afford.
So all along its really been a welfare system for businesses that claim
they can't afford to pay their employees a living wage. A lot of this
is about business greed too. Big companies like Walmart de facto rely on
this welfare for their business model.

Another provision in the bill would permit people to take 12 weeks in
unpaid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child — double the
six week limit now in place.

Why NOT just raise all salaries to a livable rate.

Like $20/hour?

If you work for a living then you should make a living. Otherwise just hit the ranks of welfare.

But, we already knew that. Got a link to the WCCO site?
Of course the Slewzer supports raising the minimum wage, it's all it's ever been qualified for.
Minimum wage jobs are not meant to support a family, they should be transitional, for students and unskilled adults.

$9.50 An hour is an abomination to all of the Sisters and Brothers who are down with the struggle for the Proletariat!

"Worker Unite!"

The Capitalist Pigs know that with cost of Borscht, Sauerkraut, Vodka, and Potatoes, not to mention the cost of rent in a Workers one room Flat, that $9.50 is a Slave Wage that Nobody in the Collective should accept!

"STRIKE!" "STRIKE!" "STRIKE!"

Have your Babushka write a Letter to Kommander Dayton and his Hench-Persons at the Politburo and DEMAND $38.41 Per Hour foe the Workers!

The Party Members have earned a Living Wage, and if we want Minnesotastan to remain a Socialist Utopia, then the Controllers at the Kapital need to meet our demands!

Tell that to all the families being supported by minimum wage jobs.

So in your unchristian mind, unskilled adults don't deserve to make enough money to live on?

Unskilled troll, so what is it? Either minimum wage isn't enough to support a family, as I said. Or "all the families being supported by minimum wage jobs" exist, like you said. And, what the hell does religion have to do with it? Trolls like you don't deserve even minimum wage.

So if the low wage workers can't get by on what they make now, how can they afford to take 12 weeks off unpaid? This bill is full of crapola. Bakk and the senate will rein that wage in a little bit at least.

Drunken blather ALREADY ?? Sad, really.....

Brought to you, by DELICIOUS PhillipKs VodKa, BREAKFAST OF Cons.... LMAOROTFU~!

Served with the usual side of SPAM ~!

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't like some con "accomplishments" too......

OBVIOUS TRAITS Persons experiencing a full-blown DRY DRUNK are, for that period, removed from the world of sobriety; they fail, for whatever reason, to accept the necessary conditions for sober living. Their mental and emotional homes are chaotic, their approach to everyday living is unrealistic, and their behavior, both verbal and physical, is unacceptable.

The goal is to become the France of North America. Fully unionized workforce, non-productive, stagnant economy, and lots of state authorized vacation time.

If that is your goal, you deserve a job that pays minimum wage.
