Charley Walters: ESPN's Jon Gruden says little about his coaching future

Before Jon Gruden got an up-close look at the Vikings on Monday night, I asked the ESPN analyst, who coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl championship seven years ago, whether he would consider coaching the Vikings. Full Story

Gruden took over a team that finished 9-7 and got smoked at Philly in the playoffs for the second year in a row by a score of 21-3. The year before they got pounded 31-9 by the Eagles.
Gruden went 12-4 and went on the road and beat Philly on the way to the Super Bowl where they beat the team that Gruden built. Do a little research.
Maybe it is a knee-jerk reaction, to the misery of this season, but these are all just generalizations, Gruden is gonna be gold, for any team he coaches. Dungy was a great coach and human, but he is not gonna coach, anymore....Sadly, it's probably good, that the fans have no say, in hiring...lol...

Charlie, GET IT THRU YOUR Thick Head, WE DO NOT WANT Gruden. He won the SB with Dungy's team. He is a FAKE!

I love it, maybe they can get Gruden, and maybe he can get Farve. Are you kidding Walters? Talk about grasping at straws. Right now, the Vikings are the NFL laughing stock.

Without a roof, most of the public benefit of a new Vikings stadium goes away. Therefore, Zygi should be expected to privately fund a much higher percentage of the stadium's cost. Public contributions of land, infrastructure, and the tax relief that comes with public ownership should suffice.

There is going to be a ton of new coach hirings this coming season and the top tier coaches will be in short supply, so get ready for the Leslie Frazier coaching era in Minnesota.

I am not overly impressed so far in his head coaching career. I realize he has been dealt a bad hand, but this team has looked as unprepared and unmotivated the last 2 games as I have ever seen them.

You just answered your own question and then became the biggest hypocrite by throwing Leslie under the bus for trying to coach under Childress's shadow and coaches.

No QB
No Offfensive line
No WR...Rice gone half season ...Harvin in and out
No heart from millionaire players
Coaching change
Roof collapse
Randy Moss 3rd round draft pick gone
Wilf's not paying attention to team
Childress goes willy nilly
Farve concentrating on Jen Sterger not football
Farve getting old and inmobile
No backup QB and T-Jack and Webb are two of the same
Fans expecting too much
Players aging in front of our eyes
Central division opponents are better w/younger QBs
.
Tuff schedule to start this season.......and on and on...etc.

I hope you like others posting hate here on Frazier do not like him because he is a black coach and you want a white head coach like chucky Gruden.

Really? Why even bring this up? The majority of people raising issues about Frazier's prospects of being more successful than someone like Gruden would likely give their I-teeth to have Tony Dungy take over this team.

I forgot, isn't Mr. Dungy black?

During times of turmoil (which is exactly what this franchise is facing), fans ALWAYS look toward familier names ith proven track records to lead the charge. Big Tuna, Dungy, Cowher, Gruden....float names like this and people are more apt to say "yes" than say Leslie Frazier.

Brad Childress was blasted far more than Denny Green as I recall.

I forgot, isn't Childress white?

Shows the mentallity of some of you by making statements about race. It certantly didn't help Leslie, Singletary or Lewis for that matter now did it? Had these guys won would it have been because they were black? No and they certaintly did not lose because they are black. Color has nothing to do with it period. If you win you keep your job if you don't you are out. By the way what color is Tomlin and Lovey? Rest my case against race having anything to do with it. Love my Bears and coach.
