Due to the upcoming expected bad weather. Governor Mark Dayton (D) has used his powers to close all schools for Monday.
.
Parents who have their phone number(s) listed with their school district are receiving calls with the message about the upcoming school closing.
.
Minnesota parents who do NOT have at least one SaHP should make arrangements with a family member or friend to watch over their offspring. So their offspring is/are kept safe by making sure they stay indoors.
.
http://www.kare11.com/story/news/local/2014/0... The National Weather Service is predicting that most of the state will experience the coldest temperatures in a decade with lows reaching -30 degrees and wind chills predicted to reach as low as -50 degrees.

Global warming will save us, right?
Or is this excessive cold the direct result of "man made" climate change?

What about Tuesday? It is going to be just as cold then. Arne Carlson once cancelled school statewide the day 'after' it was -25 and the day off the temp was +10.

Is there any way Minnesota residents can close Gov Macy's mouth?

Looks like we have someone who absolutely hates kids. Especially when I pointed out that the parents need to make arrangements to keep the kids safe either at their own home. Or at the home of a family member or at a friend's home.
.
That person needs to be sterilized as well as kept away from all kids.
.
Since they obviously think it is ok to allow child endangerment by letting kids not be kept safe.

I used to wait in my house until the bus was in sight, then run out to the bus stop.

Never did get cold.

looks like someone forgot that some kids have at least a two block walk to their bus stop.
.
As well as many kids STILL also walk to school.
.
Very few kids have the option of waiting inside their homes for a bus.

Few kids choose the option of waiting in their house. My kids have their kids go to the side of the road and wait for the bus for 10 mins. I can see the bus 1/2 mile away and the grandkids could wait inside but choose to go out and freeze AND take the risk of being hit by a stupid driver while they wait by the side of the road.

They also had a territorial turkey peck at them while waiting for the bus. That was interesting thou.

Due to various school district budgets. Not every street has a school bus going along that street.
.
As I pointed out, some kids have as much as a two block walk from their home to the bus stop. Many of them have that due to the fact that the buses for the public school system will not go on the streets of the areas that have HoAs if possible. As well as they will not go into the land on which apartment complexes are situated. The students have to walk to the edge of those areas to catch the bus.
.
And in various parts of the metro, due to the layout of the streets. Very few kids get that half mile warning.
.
At my daughter's stop. Not only does my daughter have a two block walk, so do about four other kids at that same stop. The next one down. there are a few kids who also have the two block walk.
,
By the way, the Governor has left Tues open to the various school districts to close if they feel it is worth while. And my daughter's is one that is closed on Tue.
.
http://www.kare11.com/story/news/local/2014/0... The message shared with districts follows:
Dear Superintendents and Charter School Directors,
Tomorrow morning's temperatures are forecasted to be in the double digits below zero again, with continued windchill advisories for the entire state until afternoon.
Governor Dayton is leaving the decision about school cancellations for Tuesday to individual school districts. We believe school superintendents are monitoring the temperatures closely and are prepared to communicate with families so they can plan accordingly.
We encourage you, as always, to be mindful about the dangers of even brief exposure to these dangerously low temperatures as you make your decisions.

Time for districts to use technology allowing kids to track busses and they could then see online where the bus is and when they must leave the heated house for the bus stop.

This isn't rocket science, most busses are probably tracked now by GPS.

Why is Government obsolete?

Not every family has a computer. And those who do. Many of them, the adults barely know how to use it beyond using it for fb and youtube.

Senator Wiger is already talking about Minnesota Statewide BROADBAND!!

He isn't talking about Statewide Women either.

Looks like the Polar Vortex is back for round 2.
.
And two of the metro school districts are closed for 01-23-14. Those being Anoka-Hennepin 11 & Osseo 279
.
My kid will be doing online schooling via the program her teacher has for her and the other kids in the class.
