As well as they tended to occur in areas with the strictest gun control laws.
. In “gun-free zones”?

And why aren’t we supposed to ask? Oh, that’s right, because that’s “politicizing murder.” Unlike the people who immediately jump on it to call for even stricter gun laws and even more “gun-free zones.” They’re not politicizing it, because their opinion is the default.
. Until the Newtown horror, the three worst K–12 school shootings ever had taken place in either Britain or Germany.
....Almost all of the public-policy discussion about Newtown has focused on a debate over the need for more gun control. In reality, gun control in a country that already has 200 million privately owned firearms is likely to do little to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals.
.....Gun-free zones have been the most popular response to previous mass killings. But many law-enforcement officials say they are actually counterproductive.“Guns are already banned in schools. That is why the shootings happen in schools. A school is a ‘helpless-victim zone,’” says Richard Mack, a former Arizona sheriff.
. The guns that Adam Lanza used – two semiautomatic handguns and a semiautomatic rifle – were purchased legally and registered to his mother. But in Connecticut, the gun control laws already made his possession of any guns illegal.
.....According to ABC's Z. Bryon Wolf, Connecticut has one of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S. Carrying a gun onto school property is a felony there, with exceptions if the school officials gave their approval, or if a gun owner has permission to "traverse" school ground with their unloaded gun for "lawful purposes" like hunting. Clearly, that did not stop Lanza.

Whenever these incidents happen it is always the media who stirs up resentment towards guns and gun owners and plays "nice nice" with the shooter. You know, the shooter. That guy or gal who decides to pick up a gun or three and take a few human lives just for the fun of it. The guilty ones, who all to often take their own lives as well as others, are too often portrayed as "victims of a gun crazed society".
On another note, many of these anti gun zealots are currently supporting G.W. Obama's efforts to involve us in the Syrian conflict. For strictly "humanitarian" reasons of course.
