Update at 4:38 p.m. by Julie Fancher: The 14-year-old boy died Friday afternoon, according to Fort Worth police.

Updated at 11:27 a.m.: Early reports that a 14-year-old boy was killed in a Fort Worth shooting were incorrect. The teen remains in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital.

The boy was shot late Thursday night while a 24-year-old man was handling a gun in the room at a house in east Fort Worth. The shooter has been questioned by police, and the investigation is ongoing.

Original post at 6:45 a.m.: A 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot in the face in Fort Worth late Thursday night.

Police responded to a shooting call at about 11:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of Hanger Avenue near Rosedale Street in east Fort Worth. The teen, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

A 24-year-old man is in custody in connection with the shooting. He told police he didnít know the gun he was showing the teen was loaded.
