Knives are more dangerous.
1) Knives are silent
2) Knives are all fully automatic there is NO LIMIT to the rate of stabbing or how many holes a criminal can make in a victim and knives don't overheat from use
3) Knives leave no evidence to trace the wound to the weapon, as a gun leaves a bullet that is traceable to a gun to an owner
4) Knives are much smaller than guns making them easy to hide
5) Knives are available all over with no background check needed for purchase etc
6) Knives don't jam and don't require a second component to kill, they do sometimes break.
Guns are less personal with no need to thrust a blade into a victim. Guns are much more difficult to obtain. Being a bicomponent weapon needing bullets AND a gun to fire same a gun is more complex. Guns can jam and overheat if fired a lot and not maintained.

The NRA is fond of saying that "guns don't kill people, people kill people." It's a tidy little argument but let's get real: people with guns can kill people far more effortlessly than people with knives, deadly fighting skills or poison. The FBI has assembled evidence on whether stricter laws make a difference. For example, after Massachusetts passed a law requiring a mandatory jail sentence for carrying a handgun without a license murders involving handguns dropped by almost 50 percent. Robberies went down 35 percent. After South Carolina tightened its handgun purchase requirement in the 1990s, the murder rate dropped 28 percent.
