ANOTHER GOV’T-BACKED CLEAN ENERGY CO. TOUTED BY OBAMA ADMIN GOES BANKRUPT

A California solar energy company that was unable to meet a deadline for an Energy Department loan guarantee last year has sought bankruptcy protection in Delaware.

Solar Trust of America’s Chapter 11 filing on Monday listed assets between $1 million and $10 million, and liabilities between $10 million and $50 million.

The filing comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Solyndra, a solar firm that received a half-billion dollar federal loan and was touted by the Obama administration before declaring bankruptcy last year.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and California Gov. Jerry Brown were on hand last June when Solar Trust broke ground on a 1,000-megawatt project in California. The project was touted as the world‘s largest solar power plant and a keystone of the Obama administration’s efforts to promote solar energy.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

More taxpayer dollars thrown down a rat hole... THANKS AGAIN OBAMA

Or we could invest in an alternative fuel company that will not go bankrupt.

How are the oil companies ripping "you" off? You don't think Obama is ripping the taxpayers off with all his failed government loan guarantees to the tune of $Billions$$$ gone with nothing to show for it? What green energy company has used their own money to start up? What green energy company has used their own money to stay in business? What do green energy companies contribute to the US economy when compared to the oil companies that pay the federal government over $86 MILLION dollars EACH DAY, 365 days a year in taxes and fees?

You couldn't live without oil... try it. Even the keyboard you typed your comment with couldn't have been made without it.

O K, heres one.
If Obama invests in any alternet fuel, you are guaranteed to lose whatever tax money of yours that was involved.

YES you are correct, most of it is from taxpayer and some put on the credit card for someone to pay back, If it was a good investment there would be people lined up to invest.

what a fountain of misinformation you are. Those green energy companies were started years ago with their own money, what a shock. When the oil industry was young it got subsities too, OMG what another shock. 4 of the 5 most profitable companys in the world are american oil companys and they STILL get subsities. Heres another shocker, the XL pipeline oil will be sold on the open market to the highest bidder so it won`t bring our gas prices down one little bit. Oh and FYI thanks to the green energy corporations we now can make plastics without useing oil.

Speaking of misinformation... Name those green companies that started on their own "years ago." Subsidies? The oil companies don't get subsidies they get a manufacturing tax credit.

most of what the President and his allies call "subsidies" are merely manufacturing tax credits that already put the oil and gas industry at a disadvantage:

The unfair tax break that makes up nearly half of what Obama calls "subsidies" is the manufacturing tax credit. All manufacturers except the oil and gas industry get to deduct 9 percent of their revenues before calculating their tax bills...Though oil and gas producers get the deduction, they are singled out for a lower 6 percent deduction. The oil and gas industry gets a deduction that is only two-thirds as generous as for all other manufacturers ...yet the deduction is called a subsidy to oil and gas. The President's proposal does not eliminate the deduction for any other industry.

Canadian Oil... Our North American neighbor currently supplies 21 percent of our imported oil, half of which comes from the oil sands of Canada. And for you to believe that all of the oil from the pipeline (if ever approved by Obama) will be exported and that the US won't be using any of it... is absurd and the sure "Sign Of The Easily Led."

Your problem.. you don't do any research on your own before you use their propaganda filled talking points.

Federal Heads Roll Over $822K Vegas Party
Martha Johnson, the administrator of the General Services Administration, has quit over the brouhaha, acknowledging in her resignation letter that "taxpayer dollars were squandered" in a "significant misstep."

(NEWSER)– What happens in Vegas ... has come back to bite a federal agency that decided to throw itself an $822,000 conference that was every bit as posh as it was ill-advised. Martha Johnson, the administrator of the General Services Administration, has quit over the brouhaha, acknowledging in her resignation letter that "taxpayer dollars were squandered" in a "significant misstep." Two of her deputies were fired, and four managers have been suspended, reports the Washington Post. The incident is predictably triggering outrage on the Hill, with Joe Lieberman labeling it “a stupid and infuriating waste of taxpayer dollars," and the White House—fully aware of election-year accusations of bloated government—calling for "all those responsible to be held fully accountable."

Heads began to roll just as the GSA inspector general released a scathing report, which the LA Times notes blasted the agency as having violated its mission of "developing the rules followed by other federal agencies for conferences." A breakdown of some of the highlights from the October 2010 party, er, convention, which was held at the M Resort Spa Casino for just 300 of the GSA's 12,600 employees:
$130,000 for six location-scouting trips
$75,000 for a team-building exercise, the purpose of which was to build a bicycle
$6,325 for coins commemorating GSA employees' work on the stimulus
$8,130 for "yearbooks" presented to employees at a closing-night dinner
$2,000 for a party in the loft suite of one of the fired deputies
$7 each for 1,000 sushi rolls
$5 each for 400 "mini Monte Cristo sandwiches"
$4.75 each for 400 pieces of "Petit Beef Wellington"
$146,527 for the total cost of catered food

Martha N. Johnson (born 1952) is a former official in the administration of President Bill Clinton who led the U.S. General Services Administration as the Administrator of General Services in the Obama Administration.
