SPPP letter [ http://www.twincities.com/letters/ci_24461881... ]

I don't know what definition of cancellation Christopher Snowbeck ("In Minnesota, lots of policy changes, no cancellations," Nov. 2) uses, but when I'm told by my insurer that my policy can no longer be offered, I see that as a cancellation.

Granted, I was offered another type of policy, which included useless added benefits such as maternity care for my 58-year-old wife and dental coverage for my nonexistent children under 19. However, these additional, unneeded benefits came with an additional cost which makes the new policy 70 percent higher than the old, canceled, one.

Sure, I get a lower deductible with the new policy, but the additional cost of one year's premiums is much more than the difference in deductibles. What a sweet deal! I'll be sure to thank Sen. Franken for this great opportunity to pay more for less meaningful coverage next November.

Don't you know? The ACA is only for us peons. The upper crust, like federal workers and now maybe unions are too good to have to pay for everyone else's insurance...

Every government employee, from the guy who picks up butts from the monument laws, to the president himself, should lose their lifetime cadillac health care plans and be required to go on "the exchange".
Including all of the unionized federal employees.

AND, sign a Contract which states;

"I give up my Privilege to vote for as long as I choose to be a dependent with a Government Job"

"Further, I agree that my Employers, the American Citizens, deserve to decide my compensation, based on my Work Performance, and not the Collective Mob that are the Unionista's who no longer represent the Collective Dependents wit Government Jobs"

It still won't get you reelected Al:

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) says he would be open to a brief delay in the individual mandate if the problems with HealthCare.gov aren't fixed by the end of the month, according to Minnesota Public Radio.

"I think then we have to consider extending the deadline for the mandate, but let’s hope that doesn't happen," Franken told MPR.

Franken has so far been relatively quiet about potential changes to the health-care law, but he now joins a growing group of Senate Democrats in seats that could be targeted by the GOP in 2014 who are speaking up on the issue.

BTW, getting freeloaders to vote for you doesn't constitute winning an election.
