A waste of time and money if you ask me, glad to see Ryback not waste it, but I'm sure it'll be wasted elsewhere

Minneapolis won't make a bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Mayor R.T. Rybak says. Though we could totally win.
Minnesota Public Radio reports that Rybak consulted with "local partners" before deciding that, though the city had the wherewithal to make an Olympic bid, its time and resources (just bidding on the Olympics can cost $10 million) would be better spent elsewhere.
MPR also has posted a letter by Rybak to the United States Olympic Committee, which this week invited Minneapolis and 34 other U.S. cities to consider making a bid to host the 2024 games.
We asked readers how they felt about a potential bid, and most were in favor.
the cost would be steep. The NYT said that the last two U.S. bid cities, New York in 2012 and Chicago in 2016, each spent more than $10 million and were eliminated early in the voting by the International Olympic Committee.

Some of the requirements in the letter include:

45,000 hotel rooms available for the games
An operating budget of more than $3 billion
Construction of an Olympic Village to house 16,500 athletes
Construction of an operations space for 15,000 news media members
An extensive transportation network
A work force of 200,000

Minneapolis should be setting it's sights on the Special Olympics. There's a lot of "special" people there.
