Greg Jennings meets with Vikings hoping for $11 million annual contract

--One NFL personnel man said even $8 million a year for Jennings might be “stretching it” unless he drops his price and more teams get into the bidding.

An executive for another NFL team said he could see a two- or three-year deal worth between $7 million and $8 million a year.

Greg Jennings heavily courted by Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have wide receiver Greg Jennings in town on Thursday. They are doing everything possible to keep him there.

Ben Goessling of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Jennings is out to dinner Thursday night with Jared Allen, Vikings GM Rick Spielman, coach Leslie Frazier, and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

Either Goessling had a very fortunate dinner reservation or he's stalking staking out the area like a pro. Spielman hilariously gave out depth chart information on the way in.(New Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel was brought in as a backup to Christian Ponder, not as competition.)

Dinner is nice, but it's going to take dollars to get Jennings to sign in Minnesota. It's a fascinating potential deal because the Packers remain very much alive for Jennings. The future of tight end Jermichael Finley could also hang in the balance; Finley may be asked to take a pay cut if Jennings returns to Green Bay for big money.

As we saw with Wes Welker, these negotiations with proud veterans sometimes comes down to respect. The Vikings are doing their best to show the love.

On a side note, now we know why Jared Allen makes 17million a year (AP makes 13million btw)

Wouldn't shock me if he flops, the guy is past his prime and only in it for the money....
