Tom Powers: Vikings need to plop Brett Favre on his rear

Dec 19, 2009 Read more: TwinCities.com 56
Getting all fired up about that Vikings-Bears game a week from Monday night? Well, don't. Because with any luck Brett Favre will be spending a good 50 minutes of that contest on the bench as Minnesota gives the Bears game all the emphasis it deserves: zilch. Read more

Wel, Tom Powers, you sound like you've just got it all figured out, right down to the Super Bowl. Except one little thing you forgot:

2 of the last 3 Away-games, we lost. And we lost to teams that haven't faired so well....look at the Steelers right now.

Tom, I say leave the coaching up to the coaches (even if I don't like Childress very much) and stick to your desk job writing articles. Heck, maybe YOU should take a vacation in Hawaii.

GO VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Tom, you ARE a little ahead of yourself, with all that snow and everything, but yeah, Brett has been soaking up rolling beef like road kill all season and any guy would be crippled by now. No wonder he hates training camp. For sure give him his shots as the starter and watch for the earliest chance to take the ball and slap him on the rear as he heads for the hammock. He is one hell of an all time all timer. Go Vikes and GET 'ER DONE! aND, send the three stooges, "Winkin', Blinkin' and Odd" in Green Bay an autographed (by Favre) pic of the Vikes with the Lombardi Trophy. C'mon guys!

Tom Powers is right. Favre is beat up. If and when the Vikings clinch home field advantage, they should rest Favre for the playoffs. A rejuvenated Favre can lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl. When he is hot, on his game, there is no on better.

Powers, someone needs to plop YOU on your butt. Which is the same thing as your head. Either way, you'll shut up.

As I type this, the Cowboys are beating the Saints 24-17 in the 4th quarter. If the Cowboys hold on to win, the Vikes will trail the Saints by just one game for the top seed in the playoffs, with total homefield advantage on the line.

Wonder if Powers will change his mind on Favre if Dallas pulls it out?

Where are you getting this Favre is beat up tale? Favre claims he feels as good this year at this point of he season as he ever has. I know Powers is an expert in attempting to do his job while sitting on his rear, however, for a football QB that is known as a sack. I have no problem with getting Tarvaris some more game experience so he is ready to step in as needed but let the starters keep their rythymn and build the lead.

This article plays to the fear of all the Nervous Nellies out there that have been waiting all year for something to go wrong. Well, keep on waiting, because this team is Super Bowl bound

hey...moron...they're playing in Carolina. There is no NFL team in Charlotte. Learn to proof read.

What are you talking about?!?

First of all, there is no 'Carolina'. It's either NORTH Carolina or SOUTH Carolina. The Carolina Panthers represent both states.

Second, there *IS* an NFL team in Charlotte -- the Carolina Panthers.

Their stadium is located in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Now, send your apologies to Powers, and go brush up on your NFL trivia.

It still seems rather surreal that Brett Favre will be leading this team on a possible super bowl run.

5 years ago, who woulda thunk it.

With the Saints losing tonight and looking eminently beatable, I like our chances. We just have to get that 2nd round playoff win under our belt, and away we go.

It's been an amazing season. 11 weeks out of 13 I've had a great time reading about my vikes and relishing each victory. only a couple more to go.

Stay hungry, Skol Vikes

Smarter than WHO? I think my dog knows that Charlotte is in North Carolina, where the Panthers play. You are smarter than a rock, maybe. I doubt it though.

Tard. Haha.

I couldn't agree more. If Dallas can dominate the Saints secondary in New Orleans, so will Favre and the Vikings in the NFC Championship game.

The Vikings have EVERYTHING to play for now that the Saints have lost to Dallas. From what I understand of the NFL tie-breaker system, if the Vikes win out, and the Saints lose just one more game, the Vikes get the home-field throughout the playoffs. It can happen!

that is true and from the way the saints have looked the last three weeks i would not be surprised if they lost another...although their last two games are tampa and carolina.
