To all those union bakers that thought they would get a better deal under the new owners..........

(Reuters)- Hostess Brands Inc, the bankrupt Twinkie and Wonder Bread maker, has received bids for assets being sold by about two dozen parties including Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT) and Kroger Co (KR), according to a media report on Thursday.

Some of the bidders are interested in acquiring all of the Hostess assets, while others are just focused on its cake or breads businesses, said the report by Bloomberg, which cited a person familiar with the matter.

Spokesmen for Hostess, Wal-Mart and Kroger all declined to comment. A banker at Perella Weinberg, which is running the sale, was not immediately available.

Hostess received court permission last month to wind down its 82-year-old business, which cleared the way for the company to begin selling assets. Proceeds will help it repay creditors.

It has about $900 million of secured debt and faces up to about $150 million of administrative claims.

By early January, the company expects to have initial bids for its various brands, which will then be put to auction.

Wal-Mart shares were up 0.5 percent at $69.27 in late afternoon trade while Kroger shares were down 0.6 percent at $26.42.

Yes, but they won't have to join the union in a right to work state, where Walmart would choose to locate a bakery.

And they certainly don't have to keep the employees that were there. The winning bidder will almost certainly start with "new" employees, especially given the history.

Sociopath,

Every time you post your ignorance/stupidity/idiocy/tal king points/cut-paste/ and especially your abuses of others because Uncle Daddy did not treat you right and your Mommy, his Sister, "watched" I will post the awful truths about you that you have revealed for the past year and a half.

When you come on here like the Virus you are and Destroy the Topix of the Threads in order to make it "all about you", as you masturbate to the Puny Little Power you FEEL as you pick on the Grown-ups, and "Project" your hurt from Uncle Daddy onto strangers that simply want to enjoy conversations about Current Events.....I WILL kick you in your Fat Gut with whatever verbiage I can muster in my contempt for your existence!

Put out the Drunk Con Shaat, and the Welfare Shaat, and attempt put downs about my Family (Living and Dead) all you want.....

Until the day you Go to the Light, are incarcerated for the Abuses you have told us about Little BOI's and what you like to do to them, or leave this place on Topix where you work out your Sexuality Issues, I WILL biotch slap you with your own psychotic revelations that you put out here.

Now, don't you have a Few Million Dollars to go and trade on the NYSE from your DOJO in the Sky, before you work on that MMA Body you have going?

How do you find time to grace us here with your abuses?

Please provide reference to "my" election picks. I certainly wanted Romney to win, but the only bet I made on here, the other party chickened out and ran away. As for stock tips, I am thinking that would be a good career for you. Livestock, you could see the pile of manure and clean it up. That may be asking for too much from you though, as most of the manure on here emanates from your keyboard.

Great point. Given the history of the baker's union and Hostess, any potential bidder will go to great lengths to insure they are not going to be put into the same position that caused the company to go belly up the last time.

Does anyone really think that someone is going to shell out almost $1 billion for a company/brand and not have safeguards in place to avoid the pratfalls that brought down the last ownership team?

5000 greedy stubborn people, being led by their noses by union leaders who had nothing to lose, eliminated their own jobs, and the jobs of about 13,000 others. With any luck the other 13,000 will get their jobs back and thumb their noses at the ones who put them through so much trouble.

yes, great news - now we can have a company / brand that will keep employee's for the right reasons, and they can determine their own path for success, not a liberal union spam.

A few million to management was sure the problem and not the $2 billion in unfunded pension liability.

Who said it was no problem? You keep bringing up something that is .1%-.2% of the unfunded pensions and blame it for Hostess' bankruptcy.

You act like the unions are blameless in this. You also keep using the same argument with all the other companies and cities that have gone bankrupt under pension obligations. You used the same argument when we talked about the states going bankrupt under pension obligations. What is the common factors here?
