July 1 mor taxes in MN

The taxes will largely impact top income-earners, thanks to a 25 percent increase on the top tax bracket.
They also impact cigarette smokers, who will be paying $1.60 more for a pack of cigarettes.
( Top income earners are smokers)?
There are, however, less talked-about taxes and fees that will mean more money out of your wallet. New sales taxes on digital downloads will mean paying more for downloading a song on iTunes, or purchasing an e-book for your Kindle or reader device. Additionally, you will now pay a sales tax on many other purchases if you order products from Amazon or other online retailers.
If you have cable or satellite service for your TV, your taxes will be higher starting July 1. Farmers who have their combines and tractors break down will now pay new taxes to have their farm equipment repaired. Businesses that need telecommunications equipment repaired will now pay increased taxes.
Fees will go up as well. If you need to renew your drivers’ license, or have a teenager getting their license for the first time, you might want to get your license before they cost more on July 1st. The wheelage tax, which is part of the taxes and fees you pay to register your vehicle, has been doubled for non-metro counties like ours.
I opposed these taxes and fees because I knew that they would hit more than just the wealthiest Minnesotans. I don’t think it’s right to be raising $2 billion dollars in new taxes and fees that will hit teenagers downloading a song on iTunes and all Minnesotans who renew their drivers’ license. Our economy is growing, and we were already projected to have a $728 million dollar budget surplus after the next biennium.
Thanks to the new taxes and subsequent spending spree, that surplus has been cut in half. I don’t think that was a responsible decision, and am disappointed by the decisions that raised taxes on low and middle-income Minnesotans, and reduced our future surplus.

It can't be repeated enough. Our state as well as our nation has a horrific spending problem. The core of this problem is the people who keep voting for corrupt, entrenched politicians. This is regardless of the fact that they have demonstrated time and time again their complete disregard for what is best for our state and/or our nation. Stop!!!...Voting for democrats, republicans, and incumbents.

I agree, just stop the sale, production and distribution of tobacco. Oh, that's right the bleeding heart liberals could never survive without the billions and billions of tax revenue they collect from that industry.

Don't forget the billions of dollars they receive in campaign contributions and the many illegal aliens who would suddenly be unemployed if that industry shut down, thereby costing them 10's of thousands of votes.
