The solution is a budget surplus of about $600,000,000.

The Government official pimping a project is Senator Chuck Wiger (D) Maplewood, and others.

Their proposed solution is statewide Broadband. Everyone in Minnesota deserves and is entitled to broadband.

However listen carefully because they add in a municipal involvement in broadband.

Now the truth is evident, they are really talking about FIBER OPTIC cabeling to every house in Minnesota with local Governments being in control of the ISP operations.

This is what Monticello Minnesota did and their project is in default on the bonds and road repair funds are being used to prop up the FIBER project. Their FIBER is suffering from performance problems.

So get ready for a new skrewing from Government. The budget surplus WILL NOT be refunded to taxpayers instead it WILL BE WASTED on statewide broadband..

BTW this is the FIBER project the informed North Saint Paul taxpayers rejected. And Senator Wiger is from North Saint Paul, he doesn't like to be defeated so he's going for statewide FIBER.

Naturally, the logical extension of this is that since everyone is "entitled" to high speed access, they are also entitled to a new laptop in order to best utilize their new found connectivity.

Wonder what Wiger stands to gain from this?
It's a pretty safe bet he is not doing this because he's believes everyone should have free access to the internet.
And it certainly won't end up being free.
Follow the money.

Wiger IS the main Teachers Union supporter. He WILL reap rewards from anything he supports.

Wiger was a supporter of the fiber plan in North Saint Paul which the voters sheet canned. Wiger raised the ante to pimp for state wide fiber and once again he is attaching the municipal involvement in the projects.

The Socialists equate the fiber installation by towns to the rural electric installation of the past. They choose to overlook that wireless is the preferred internet access method.
