FULL DISCLOSURE FROM ALL CANDIDATES REQUIRED!

The news media should conduct criminal backround checks on all declared candidates for governor, and in fact do the same for all declared candidates for state and local office.

Candidates who are running from their past while running for public office assume the risk when they tell voters "Trust me!" and are then confronted with pesky truths that they omitted from their resumes.

Candidates like Tom Emmer who intentionally attempt to conceal their criminal history should be dusted at the polls.

I think this is just part of the game, nothing to get excited about. Republicans and Democrats will each do whatever it takes to get into office, integrity be damned.

A 20-year old DUI is really not that big a deal in my book. There are plenty of people I trust who have also made occasional and tremendous mistakes in their lives.

When the voters get freaked out about this stuff, they just encourage more of it. And by the way, I will vote DFL for sure, but I hate to see the debate on either side of the aisle take this kind of turn. Talk about the political issues, God knows there are plenty.

Best course of action for anyone in this situation is to acknowledge it. If he's avoiding it, that's not a good sign for the right. If it's a witch hunt from the left, that speaks volumes about their desperation.

Better to fall short of your Christian values than to have no values at all.

I'm sorry I ever thought to support such a sleaze as Emmer. He is an embarrassment to all Republicans. I was running for the House, but I quit. That's it, I'm done. I'll vote for Seifert. I urge everyone to do so.

Seifert blew it. He should have waited until the weekend before the election to drop the bomb like the Gore camp did with George Bush's 20 year-old DWI. He went from 8 points up in the polls to tied over night.

Did I read that some bozo made a comment about Christian values? Emmer, the drunken trial lawyer, doesn't have any, but I'd stack up the Christian values of the GOP against the baby-killing, queer-loving DFL anytime. Emmer is an embarassment to all God-fearing Republicans. He is an ambulance-chasing alcoholic. And I still don't like Jap cars!

Typical bullshit politics in Minnesota. They can't seem to let go of someone's past.
