The main street is dtted with empty buildings with much of the land and buildings being owned by the non-taxpaying Government.
Also the resdential areas of NSP is dotted with Government owned lots.
Of course Government owned property don't pay taxes. How is a private developer supposed to compete with a non-taxpaying Government developer?
Hint hint a private developer can't compete with the tax free Government developer.
NSP needs to focus on Government core functions and get out of private sector functions. Of course if you are a wanabe developer there is NO better place than working for Government. After all if you fail the taxpayers take the ht, JUST LIKE THE COMMUNITY CENTER CLOSING.
And MORE TIF projects, taxpayers once again take a hit.

You forget when the Government constructs anything they don't have to consider building codes because they own the inspection department. Good example of this was the Government constructed house at 14th Ave and Helen street. It was not built to code and had to be improved to make it safe.
Another example is the Government built house on 19th Ave. It doesn't adhere to sideyard setbacks causing snow to be deposited on the property next door.
Code violations are like an iceberg you never see what's hidden in the walls and only find the problems after you buy the house.

The main street in North Saint Paul is just like a street in Detroit. Like a goat trail or a Russian street, a socialist town.

NSP implemented a bulk item pickup service.
First they paid a private firm to do the pickup. That way it didn't look like another Government monopoly.
Once the sheepie got used to the ripoff then NSP converted the service to a city monopoly AND of course the city started jacking up the price.
Of course the service is unused except by rental properties whose constant turnover causes a lot of bulk items to be discarded. Of course regular long term residents have no use for the service because anytime something new is purchased the old item is recycled by the supplier.
Furthermore anything you want to get rid of anything it can be placed on the curb and scrappers will pick it up. BTW you don't need to contact anyone to make an appointment for a pickup AND you can set stuff out any day of the week and a roving small busines person scrapper will pick it up.
The city curbside recycling service only takes profitable items and avoids anything they can't make a big $ off, aluminum.

Brother lives NSP.
He claims if you own a house on double lot, 120' wide, the city will not allow you to build a house on the 60' extra lot.
Yet the city of NSP allows themselves to build house on a smaller lot. The city did just that on 19th ave, they built a house with sideyard setbacks that VIOLATE city code.
When asked Mayor Kuehn said the city house on 19th was constructed in a way that the Met Council approves of to promote high sensity housing.
The city of NSP can't have it both ways. If the city can build a house with narrow sideyard setbacks then anybody can build a house with the same setbacks.
Otherwise the city is CORRUPT!!

All new street signs, the LGA cash flow is ON.
Fixing problems that don't exist. Polishing a turd.
Community Center closes, 15,000,000 in LGA squandered.
Where will it end?

You like an empty Government building that cost state taxpayers $15,000,000 to construct?
You think a HUGE EMPTY building makes the town "Look Good"?
You think it's a good investment to install all new street signs when existing signs were still in excellent condition?
Do you really think it's OK to waste taxdollars?
Socialism fails every time it is implemented and NSP is just another example of a failed city.
A better example of course is Monticello. They decided to implement a citywide fiber infrastructure and the project has failed so badly they defaulted on the bonds and are draining their muni booze fund to keep the fiber disaster operating.
Again Government has no bussiness competing with private sector companies. Government can and does tax and waste with no accountability to stock owners.
A socialist city manager can run a city to the poor farm, like Wally did in NSP.

In North Saint Paul firefighters used to dig out fire plugs. For the elderly.
Not any more, they are to high paid to do that pion work.

Hang out the flag.Hang out the flag.
NSP Public works FINALLY has begin plowing streets curb to curb.
Last year they refused to plow around corners.
This year they are plowing around corners, curb to curb.
This is wonderful as a woman on my street is in a wheelchair and was having trouble wheeling around corners (no sidewalk), maybe somebody from ADA got the city on track to do the job correctly?
Something happened: this years plow jocks are better at the job, they got new plow trucks that can plow around corners, or Duddeck ordered the plow jocks to plow around corners.
Im thinking Duddeck ordered it done correctly, thank Scott!!
The trucks could plow around corners and city employees dont do anything unless ordered to because if they stray from orders and get a complaint it could be their job on the line.

So is Liberals, and as well as half the posts on here.

It used to be the snow plows could be heard when driving down a street because they used to plow down to the bare pavement. Now days the plows aren't scraping pavement but fly over it leaving a layer of snow.
Just like Saint Paul of course ruts then develop, love NSP management...
Of course the money saved in plow repair goes to the back pockets of NSP employees.

Who will be held responsible when a child drowns in one of these "Rain Gardens"? Every town has a law against wading pools or swimming pools and they must be either fenced OR emptied after use. Rain Gardens are nothing but a wading pool with a slipper slope to deep water.
Saint Paul, MN

It appears someone "fixed" the rain garden on 13th Ave. In a act of civil unrest and to reduce bug hatches and risk of drowning someone trenched the rain garden so it doesn't hold any water.
Love it when residents do the right thing. Of course the resident will have to seek a life in Russia to avoid persecution, LOL.

Rain Gardens use input grills designed by bike riding degreed tree huggers that don't work!!
Imagine they have filters built in to reduce crud from entering the rain garden. These are government spec filters, that don't work. The filters plug up quickly and the rain water just runs over the filter.
Poor ignorant Government is 100% clueless!
It would be real funny if they worn't wasting tax dollars on this foolishness.
