And for those of you that may think that Obamacare in this thread is off topic, you are partially WRONG.
Detroit is planning on using Obamacare to push their retirement health costs onto the entire taxpaying middle class.
And that may be the ONLY reason why Obamacare was passed into law.

Detroit paid taxes that supported the other parts of the country for years. As good Americans we're all in this together. Poor teabaggers are obvious bad Americans and treasonous twits...

It's interesting you're so against helping fellow Americans, but you're all for blaming the working men & women at the bottom ???
Did Mittiot offer you a pony ride, TAX SUBSIDIZED of course....

Obama, making up stuff as he goes again.

Obama referenced "tough choices" made to bail out GM and Fiat-Chrysler and also hailed the birth of a new wave of high-tech employment. "We said American workers could manufacture the best products in the world. So we invested in high-tech manufacturing and we invested in clean energy," he said. "And right now, there's an advanced-battery industry taking root here in Michigan that barely existed before."

The biggest factory in this supposed new trend, Massachusetts-based A123 Systems, had plans to employ 5,900 workers nationwide to build lithium-ion batteries. In Detroit, A123 Systems never employed more than 1,000. The Energy Department awarded A123 Systems a $249 million grant to boost production. It filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and was still receiving DOE largesse. A judge approved the bankruptcy in 2013.

In other words, the Detroit-area advanced-battery industry Obama said "barely existed before" his 2011 speech now ... barely exists.

unions will destroy America, this is a big wake up call for all the states and their ( free ) retirement programs. News flash there is no money in them.

Time to privatize the Police force in Detroit, contract a large corporation that will eventually build Robocops...wait a minute...I think I saw that in a movie once.
"We have a great city, but a city going down hill for the last 60 years," Governor Snyder said at an evening press conference. He said 38% of the city's budget is being spent on "legacy costs," such as pensions and debt service. He said police take almost an hour to respond to calls, compared to a national average of 11 minutes, and that 40% of street lights in the city are turned off.
"That's unacceptable," he said.
Go ahead. Pay the pensions and cut city services instead. The only option will be to privatize every city department and offer contracts to bidders. Detroit Police run by a security corporation. Administration managed by a professional firm. Street crews dispatched by local construction companies.
Thanks unions. You just forced Detroit's hand. Now watch the private sector take over.

When it came time to pick a little puppy pal for White House dog, Bo, the Obama family seems to have made the politically incorrect choice of purchasing a pure-bred instead of adopting a rescue dog from one of the many shelters that become the last stop for millions of dogs before they are euthanized.

ON a related note:

Abandoned Dogs Roam Detroit in Packs as Humans Dwindle:

As many as 50,000 stray dogs roam the streets and vacant homes of bankrupt Detroit, replacing residents, menacing humans who remain and overwhelming the city’s ability to find them homes or peaceful deaths.
