It isn't really a lie, it's a deliberately ridiculous statement ....
It was just inductive reasoning, although it was potentially wrong.

Were anyone to employ you in Seattle, it would probably be someone desparate for help, seeing as how your sunny disposition precludes contact with the public. Most of the non-interaction jobs you would likely be qualified for pay minimum wage. Washington State just passed a $.15 per hour raise of the minimum wage effective January 1st, 2013. If you were employed, you would have just gotten a $.15/hour raise. I realize the fallacy of my reasoning now, as you are likely not employed.

People like Barbara Johnson are the prime reason to avoid ever living in Minneapolis.
Barbara is gifted at math for a Democrat though.

From Forbes:

So political proponents of the stadium have apparently resorted to some bizarre math to paint a rosier picture for the public. Barbara Johnson, president of the Minneapolis City Council, wrote in an opinion piece in yesterday’s StarTribune:“There are no new taxes here. We’ll use existing food, liquor, lodging and sales taxes that, until recently, could only pay for expenses tied to the Minneapolis Convention Center.”

The taxes Johnson is referring to are those that are currently designated for the Minneapolis Convention Center: 0.5% general sales tax; 3.0% downtown restaurant tax; 3.0% downtown liquor tax; and 2.625% hotel tax. These sources contributed $50.8 million to the convention center in 2010.

The problem with Johnson’s simple tax math is that according to the city’s 2012 budget the convention center is losing money and cannot afford to have funds siphoned off. Last year the convention center jettisoned about a dozen supervisors and placing 23 of its 44 full-time events workers on a call-in-as-needed status, all part of an effort to slash operating costs and free up tax revenue that the city of Minneapolis might use elsewhere.

The fiscal year-end 2010 balance for the Convention Center Special Revenue Fund was $40.0 million, a decrease of $8.6 million from 2009. The projected loss for the convention center for 2011 is $3.7 million and the lose for this year is expected to be $2.7 million.

Moreover, the city’s contribution to the stadium construction and operations will be $678 million when accounting for interest over the life of the deal, which works out to an average of $23 million a year, or almost twice the operating revenue generated by the convention center in 2010.
