As a resident of Lake Palo Pinto, I too am praying for rain like Joe Morgan, but I am also praying that the City of Mineral Wells and the Palo Pinto County Muncipal Water District #1 get's a handle on the estimated 2 MILLION GALLONS A DAY water loss reported by thier engineer back last Tuesday September 9th at a joint public meeting they held. This water loss centers around a rather antiquated method of transporting the water that is released from the Lake Palo Pinto Dam and then is allowed to flow some 14 miles down Palo Pinto Creek to the Water Districts Pump Station which then pipes the water to the Treatment Plant. In that 14 mile creek bed some 2 Million Gallons is lost daily. Since the public disclosure of this dailey water loss was reported some 8 days ago, do the math. As of this post some 16 Million Gallons in 8 days has been lost. Dan Kirch said it best " Every Drop is precious" We just got to get the City of Mineral Wells and the Palo Pinto County Municipal Water District # 1 to adopt that same mindset.
