Just because he is performing for free doesn't mean that there will be no charge to get in the gate. It means if we win, we do not have to pay him to come here as all the other venues do. We can still charge entrance, hence the fundraiser opportunity.

Knowing how he is such a supporter of disaster relief and the Red Cross, I can't imagine he wouldn't take this to heart and try to make this happen for us.

You are right. Even Walton Park holds 3000-4000 people for the bluegrass festival each year. It would be a logistical nightmare, but we can do it.

Alan jackson free concert ? Nothing is free in this society. Invite the politicians for a bake sale, that will be less taxing on the locals officials and avoid congestion on the highways.

I love Alan Jackson, but mix Alan Jackson fans from Mineral/Louisa w/ his concert and its gonna be nothing but a big redneck, drunk, fighting festival. Sorry but its true.

I don't think that would be the case at all. This community needs a break form the aftershocks and details from assesing the damage. It would be a welcome releif for most people.

You can count on spending minimum of 25 Thousand dollars $25,000.00
for audio production equipment, production crew, security, staginging, lights...
If you have ever seen a technical rider for this kind of an artist, you would know.
Either someone sponsors this, the ommunity eats it it or they attach a ticket price.

This is self promotion . Don't be fooled. Look at all the press he has received for coming up with this scheme. Once again, someone trying to make money off of 9/11 and disasters.
I'll sing and you don't have to pay me.

Oh Lord Alan, may I kiss your feet. So giving of you.

This is a no brainer. You have it in a large field (just like in Fredericksburg). Everyone knows you will have to charge admission, that's the point of doing it to raise money. you take a portion of the raised money to pay for support staff, and the rest goes to benifit the recovery.Jackson supplies his own stage and workers, you let vendors from Louisa bring in the drinks and food, donating part of the monies they make. It's a win -win situation. Call the farmers to see who will donate the land for the event! wow that was easy.

When some of us started passing this around amongst our facebook friends it was a way to boost the low morale. We didn't think it would take effect like it did, but hey we could all use an evening of listening to Alan Jackson perform. Unless you work for Alan Jackson and know what he requires who are you to say?? I look at it this way...all those who speak negatively for this small, rural community pulling together and finding a way to soothe our nerves are jealous because we thought of this great idea and you didn't!! Besides, most of you who are commenting DO NOT even live in LOUISA COUNTY (Mineral)!!

Why can't they hold it in Charlottesville or Richmond Va but for Mineral?

And I will again point out that part nobody is wanting to see even if it is in every piece of his shameless self promotion ." says the winning community must meet Jackson's production requirements and find a venue that can hold 1,000 to 3,000 people."
In other words... They can veto any location they want. Or choose a location they can hold a concert for profit the next night without having to break down equipment etc... You all fell for it... Earned him $$ every time you clicked... And now will see nothing

Because even if I were to happen... A concert for 3000 people requires no effort or money beyond having the entertainer spend an hr at the location... No setup required... Who needs a fancy set for a handful of people? That's your loophole

Here's what I would suggest.

Let anyone with a Mineral zip code into the concert for free, and charge 20-30 bucks a ticket for anyone else to cover costs and/or raise money. Let's face it, any money raised is going to be a drop in the bucket for the area's needs. It's a morale booster.
