There is a VERY interesting article on "Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors" in the latest (July/August 2010) American Scientist. Very many interesting advantages if Plutonium production isn't the desired goal ( ideal for non-proliferation and low waste).

And the IEEE Spectrum for 3 September has an interesting article on current 'new' reactor ideas and proposals ( "Reactors Redux").
