Less than a month ago I bought a used car cash outright. Saw the car fax report which included their recent repair to the water pump. The car started leaking anti-freeze a week later. Spent time to determine the issue. The timing cover gasket was leaking. There was wax over it to stop the leak. The gasket was supposed to have been changed when the water pump was. Went to Ford since the issue was created when they "fixed" the car. They denied using wax to seal it and wanted to charge over $700 to repair their mistake. Took it to another mechanic, ASE certified who fixed my car for less than $200. He discovered many bolts had not been tightened when Ford repaired the car. I almost lost the idler pulley, because it wasn't bolted and bearings stripped. Less than 1000 miles driven and the driver has a broken back and the negligence shown by Ford could have cost someone their life. Over an $11 part and 10 minutes to tighten what they loosened. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM or LET THEM REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE.

Actually we didnt even have 500 miles on it from buying it. Had only filled gas tank twice since we have had it.

What brand, year and model did you buy?
Befor you bought it did you take it to an independent mechanic for an insppection?
Was there any warranty on the car?

I only buy used cars that are certified.

The April edition of Consumer Reports is on the stand.This is their annual car edition. Lots of good info.

I think the point is that ford dealer sucks. I concur.
I had paint wrk done under warranty, a known problem, and the same thing occured again and they refused to repair it because the original warranty had expired. They made the original repair by slapping new paint on.Instead, of taking it down to bare metal and priming w/ the correct primer which would have stopped the probem from occuring again. FORD Maufacturer has many consumer complaints on the roof paint problem on Exporer models and refuse to correct it for their customers

We had bought a 2000 Ford Taurus 68,xxx miles 3.0 vulcan engine. When I took it for the test drive I had no rattles, clanks leaks or nothing. They only thing that was wrong was the check engine light was on.(I already knew the problem from looking over the car myself but wanted to see what they said.) So the next morning before I came into put the rest of the money down and sign the papers their mechanics "took a look" at it and ran the codes... Came up DPFE sensor which was exactly what I found...No biggie I could fix that. Car had run beautiful until I took it outside of Blue Ridge. The first real run it had where it was running more that 10-15 min was going to Ellijay. And thats when it started leaking the antifreeze. Im aware that I bought the car AS IS but Ford has service standards that if something was previously wrong they fix it at their own cost. Not this Ford dealership though. The biggest thing that horrifies me is the fact that all the bolts were tightened just enough that they couldnt be loosened by hand but were all loose enough to almost come undone when driving. Basically I understand you always run the risk of buying junk when you buy as is. But their shoddy mechanic work should not be part of that worry. Some day their shoddy mechanics is actually gonna kill someone.

That is why just buy new Trucks. I don't need someone else's problems. It was traded for a reason. Just saying.

I bought 4 new tires and got an alignment at North Ga Ford several years ago. Within 5000 miles, the back tires were racing slicks, I mean there was absolutely no tread left. I took the car back to them and they said the car was not out of alignment and I would have to buy new tires. The didn't offer me any sort of discount and there was no warranty on the tires. i was furious, so I took the car to Ronnie Thompson Ford in Ellijay and had them look at it. They said it was out of alignment and it even looked like the bolts had been turned because they did not have any dust or dirt on them like everything else under the car. I took the car back to North Ga Ford with the report from Ronnie Thompson and they still refused to take any responsibility for it. Ronnie Thompson fixed the issue for me for a discounted price, and the new F-250 that I bought about a year later came from Ronnie Thompson Ford instead of North Ga Ford. I will never do business with North Ga Ford again and I tell everyone I can about the terrible experience.
