And just how many fulltime firemen do we have now, seven or eight? I guess you'd like to get rid of the city police and dispatch, why they're just a waste of taxpayer's dollars in your eyes, right?

First, Maybe, your posts are too long. You get an A+ for writing skills but it is boring as hell.

Second, regarding tinted windows. Gwinnett and DeKalb County have tinted windows, as do most patrol cars in other cities and towns. I was just sent a photo from Lexington KY - tinted windows. I don't understand the fixation with the windows. Are you all that insecure?

I think the window tint issue in UC boils down to trust... Had they not given the citizens a reason to distrust the UCSO, the tint would've never been an issue

Another clueless peon.
That's what is wrong with TOPIX.
Deminished? Is that anything like the word "diminished?"
Yes, when transporting an convict, there should be tinting to protect not only the officer but the person being transported.
I'll bet you there is still a vehicle or two at UCSO that has tinted windows for transporting to and from court or other counties. Mason is smarter than that to put an officer in jeopardy. Or, is he?
BTW, those officers with many years of experience, which is admirable, can afford the poor pay in this county. Most, if they retired from another agency in GA or out-of-state, have a pension. I do see that as a plus. They won't have to pinch pennies serving ungrateful citizens at night, during bad weather, and holidays for pennies without additional overtime pay or decent benefits.
. When transporting "an convict" Haha, keep calling others out!

. Not insecure, just fed up with your wives and girlfriends riding around having a good time in your patrol car on the taxpayer's dime!

The city is the poorest run dept. as they have around 7 or 8 people to take care of a one mile radius. They work the 4 lane but will not patrol and ticket people in the neighborhoods for fear of losing the dumb ass mayor and council a vote. Where do you think the money comes from to pay all these policeman? They are all good guys but their talents could be better utilized with a real police dept. somewhere.

Not afraid of the druggies-call Pickens County Sheriff as they had drug information about a residence here in Union. Mason told them to handle it. They did and recovered drugs. Why does and out of county agency have to handle drug cases here in Union. Seems like mason is not doing what he said during his campaign.

Are you saying that the Pickens County Sherriff Dept sent officers into Union County to perform a raid on a home? And all they needed was permission from the Union Co Sherriff? I didn't know that was possible. Is it? Can a Sherriff's Dept operate over County lines - simply with permission of the local Authorities? Is this standard? What sort of permission do they need?

Posts below that show more questions than answers. Remember this post: before this term is over, more than 50% of the people who voted for our "new and improved" sheriffs office will be sorry they voted the way they did. I know i am.

Speaking of his campaign, he complained about deputies from out of county driving vehicles home. Myself as a tax payer would rather those deputies drive them home as oppose to the Florida idiots that are supposedly in charge drive those vehicles home that dont know what is going on in the county. And speaking of his chief who is from Florida, looks like he covers up drugs for money, pull it up! daviepolice.org . And as a tax payer, the elect sheriff was going to save us money and cut staff but as a result of that, how many deputies do we have now? We have 5 ladies in the office that used to take 3 and 2 on animal control that used to take 1. In his campaign article, patrol vehicles need to be updated systematically and periodically to avoid having to purchase a large number during a large year span. Funny, cause he has 8 ordered. Also in his campaign add he says "I will be proud to "wear the uniform" representing the citizens of Union County". Me personally, I have witnessed him with no uniform and no badge during working hours.

I think O.C.G.A. 17-4-23 applies to moving vehicle violations. However, in some states deputies and game wardens from outlying couknow of one game warden in a state having the authority to arrest in a nearby state and that person even had a badge from that state. This person was also deputized as a Federal game warden in order to be able to arrest for Federal violations.

O.C.G.A. 17-4-23 (2010)
17-4-23. Procedure for arrests by citation for motor vehicle violations; issuance of warrants for arrest for failure of persons charged to appear in court; bond

(a) A law enforcement officer may arrest a person accused of violating any law or ordinance governing the operation, licensing, registration, maintenance, or inspection of motor vehicles by the issuance of a citation, provided the offense is committed in his presence or information constituting a basis for arrest concerning the operation of a motor vehicle was received by the arresting officer from a law enforcement officer observing the offense being committed, except that, where the offense results in an accident, an investigating officer may issue citations regardless of whether the offense occurred in the presence of a law enforcement officer. The arresting officer shall issue to such person a citation which shall enumerate the specific charges against the person and the date upon which the person is to appear and answer the charges. Whenever an arresting officer makes an arrest concerning the operation of a motor vehicle based on information received from another law enforcement officer who observed the offense being committed, the citation shall list the name of each officer and each must be present when the charges against the accused person are heard.
