I am not sympathetic to anyone silly enough to gamble. When I was young, I was tought that gambling was a vice, and a socially destructive one that if endulged in could and often did ruin entire families. the greatest con job ever perpetrated on a foolish public was selling the idea that gambling was simply another harmless form of entertainment, and lately a setting for family fun and vacations!
What a nation of dodos we've become for a majority to buy into that self serving set of lies.

You said it...As a person who just moved from Las Vegas, back to California, I completely agree. Gambling is a extremely destructive vice to families, I have a 2 year old with Cerebral Palsy. I lived with his father in Vegas, and gambling left us in destitution. My son's father gambled away our living money, left us sleeping in our car, until I had enough and left. And seeing this amount of money these people raked in, is extremely nauseating. Now my son does not see his father, misses him and our family is destroyed. I really appreciate all that Vegas has to offer. I hope those people who do so well, and live high on the hog, read this! I am sure I am not the only one who has a story similar to tell. I cannot understand how America falls for this, and feeds the industry of Casinos and gambling to the extent it does. These people in Vegas live so high and live like Kings on other people's saddness. I saw how much of an addiction it turns into, and Vegas feeds that addiction with their attitudes towards it. I hope those people who live so highly in Vegas, can visualize a baby, who is disabled, living who cannot walk, or crawl, will be wheel chair bound, asking for his father. But, he cannot because his father has chosen to waste his life on gambling and cannot afford to care for him because all of his money has gone to gambling. Yes, it is his father's fault, but I cannot help but blame the marketing person's in Vegas, with no idea the torment and saddness this little boy has gone through because of what gambling has done. I am extremely resentful towards Vegas, and will never go back there. What this person said, says it all. What a bunch of dodos we are to have fallen for it. But, still all the people from California and all over the world flock there and drop all of their money. They need to take more responsibility of what they are doing and how it hurts so many people, don't they!!

I am very sorry to learn how gambling has afflicted you own family. Unhappily your story is not unique. And every day the gambling interests find newer and more effective ways to ensure that their net is cast ever more widely and hauls in still more gullible 'fish'.

I'm not sure how it is run today, but when my work required frequent travel to Europe and the Middle East the one thing all gambling casinos had in common was that their own citizens were not allowed to enter the gambling halls. To enter the rooms where gambling was going on one had to show a foreign passport. The governments in those countries were not about to allow the gambling interests to lift the pocketbooks of their own citizens and ivite the dreadful social consequences of uncontrolled gambling.

In America these same gambling interests bribed/threatened/blackmailed lawmakers into opening the doors of casino gambling to their own citizens. An unheard off arrangement in the Europeand Mideast of two decades past. Here, along with credit cards gambling has proven to be the most efficient way Big Capital has discovered to legally steal from a dumbed-down amoral citizenry.

And by the way I have never gambled nor owned a credit card.

I agree. I think Vegas has become one big bowl in the desert, surrounded by brown mountains and in the middle lies a big pit of gambling destruction.
It is overgrown and ugly. Cement walls separate most yards and families. There is nowhere to walk on the strip and the traffic is unbelievable. It needs to take a page out of the book of cities in the east. NY, Boston, DC, Baltimore, Philly.. get a life a get outta Vegas if ya wanna live!
