If "Bob" were to go down, they would look for a week with 2-3 planes and call it good.

Celebrity and cash sure go a long way. Is his family footing the bill or is all of this on the backs of the Nevada citizens?

The Nevada Army and Air National Guard combined have spent about $180,000 so far on the search for Fossett, Nevada Guard spokeswoman April Conway said.

Officials for the Nevada Highway Patrol and Civil Air Patrol said Friday they do not know how much their agencies have spent.

Stevie...you have more money then God but we are spending my tax dollars searching for you. Hmm? When should I be expecting a check?

LOL at Alien-that's what I thought too. But seriously if that had been any one of us, they'd give up after three days and consider us dead.

Not so fast there if you check the second to last pew in First Baptist Church in Salt Lake City You will find his will! I am the service station owner who one evening in December 2000 who had pick him up along a desolate road in the Nevada desert. Any connection to Melvin Earl Dummar and the LDS church is a pure fluke!

If I were this guy, and still alive, and in a wooded area, I'd start a friggin forest fire so that rescuers could find me. I kind of have a feeling that good ole Steve used all of his 9 lives.

RIP Steve!

...."Pilots brushed off a series of false sightings and scoured Nevada's high desert Saturday as the massive aerial search for Steve Fossett grew more urgent nearly a week after the adventurer's disappearance.
Maj. Cynthia Ryan of the Nevada Civil Air Patrol said the search could continue for weeks...."

Wow, if one of my kids ever gets lost, I hope he's a world famous multi millionaire.
There's thousands of missing people in the US, but this guy gets no expense spared top priority?

HUNDREDS of missing children at this moment and we're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a day to look for this guy who couldn't be bothered to file a simple flight plan?

And who is paying for all this exactly? You and I.
