Now that they have a cafe they should be considered a purveyor and able to sell cooked crayfish.
Go back to court with that one, your town's behind you!

You are stupid. I can still vote for the candidate of my choice. I can still own private property. I can still vote for the candidate of my choice. I somehow fail to see a banning of the crustaceans in the middle of Nevada as the downfall of civilization. Did you read the reason? A concern for native species does not mean the government is taking over their business. Even if you disagree with the wildlife officials, you reaction shows a strong need for psychiatric help to deal with your paranoia.

I've been to Mina. Anyone who can figure out a way to make a living there is far more rare and endangered than any fish, and should have their survival take precedence.

Two words: Invasive Species. The "lobsters" being Australian Red Claw Crayfish are not native and could have a detrimental effect on local ecosystems.
Invasive species can spread rapidly and cause many problems.
That said research shows that ARCC are being raised in TX and FL.
Perhaps had the Eddys sought help from the USDA and suspended live sales until the permitting issue was straightened out a happy ending would have resulted.
Once their permit was pulled, the issue was not about the lobsters, but about disobeying the government.

I'm with the opposition based solely on the Invasive [Alien] Species issue. These crayfish shouldn't be allowed in TX & FL either. Bad weather happens; critters can get out and spread all over.

Wrong. You can vote for one of the 2 crooked candidates supplied to you by the "2 party" system.(really the same party) As for your private property, the government can now take it away using eminent domain, if they feel that a strip mall there would bring in more taxes.

If these people want to sell cooked crayfish, okay. But selling them live to anyone who comes by is the height of irresponsibility. Invasive species, as noted by others, are incredibly harmful to native species populations.

that is brainwash mentality, why do we need to "obey the government"? the "government" has no right to tell people what to do.. sure, there are things like murder and burglary that needs o be controlled, but those are ethical matters.. "obeying the government" id your answer because you cannot think for yourself.

The story says that residents of Nevada can buy the Crayfish from out-of-state sources, yet they can't be sold within the state. Shutting down this operation doesn't necessarily solve the "invasive species" problem. It just gives the state a scapegoat.

But you're right - they could have sought help from the all-knowing and all-powerful government for the venture and everything would probably be OK.

Oh that evil government, making people not sell live, non-native, invasive species to complete strangers. If they sold them cooked and not live, this would not be an issue.

Right now the Great Lakes are in peril from non-native species like zebra mussels and those evil Asian snake head carp...which are slowly making their way up the Illinois River and may eventually take over the entire Great Lakes ecosystem.

The same thing could happen to Nevada waterways if these crayfish wound up getting loose.

So which country do you plan on moving to to escape this communist paradise? By the way, it doesn't make it a commie country just because your side lost the election. Who are you, Archie Bunker?

Two words:: WHO CARES... First this whole argument was based on If & And no evidence that it would in fact happen.. just like most of what the government uses as excuse to take away freedoms.. reasons for no jobs is the government interference they have driven our manufacturing base to Mexico and China.. they have put so many restrictions on small businesses they stifle the ability of them to actual succeed.. it's time they get out of people's business before we all starve..
