So I guess going back to the old ways.... Hickory way allowing the drugs to freely run through there.
I remember when u would see cops on bikes. Walking through the neighborhoods you might find out things that would benefit the community. Our current Mayor I'm sure would have to approve......

Its an epidemic thats here to stay. Drugs began in the late sixties and early seventies and its never been eradicated. As far as an apartment complex, they get a bad rap because people look down on those of fixed income. If you'd think about it, a complex has perhaps 40 units, if you'd count 40 houses on any street in any neighborhood in this nation you would find the same amount of dealers. Get over it.

You must be on crack to make a statement like that!!! The apartment complex used to Green Meadows, drugs and dealers were thick and now called Hickory Way. They just changed the name, its true that they are income based apts but several...not all the people here..are welfare dependent and would rather lay wasted than work.

Take joy m. down in the next building..has a child, tons of traffic in and out and you can look at her and tell she is pilled up, plus she deals drugs, hangs with jackie sargent which is a dead giveaway that she is a druggie just like him!!!She is young and lazy, would rather stay high than work!! You are wrong that it is not in every neighborhood but it is an epidemic. Part of the problem is that welfare does not drug test!!I work and it sickens me to know that my tax dollars along with other peoples go to support their habits

There will still be found the same amount of drug users among any 40 houses on any given street in this country than can be found in 40 units of an apartment complex. Its just not as visible because its not as conjested and you dont know everybody's business as you do living in an apartment complex and seeing who comes and goes. I work in the school system and i have heard of teachers being on pills. I see the drug dealer in my neighborhood getting visited by professional people in shirt and ties as well as ladies in dresses heading to work. Like i said , people in low income apartments get a bad rap because of a few.

And you can be rest assured that if they ever start drug testing for welfare that would cut these people off, the crime rate would soar to the point that almost everyone would be victimized by breaking and enterings, home invasions, armed robberies. Your homes, outdoor garages and storage sheds, cars, all would have to be system alarmed or your homeowners insurance would skyrocket.

I disagree with you still on the 40 homes and drug dealers, these apartments need cleaned up and they have a long, long history for drugs!!. So what would you suggest instead of drug testing people on welfare? Just let them go and support them and the problem will go away? Umm keep dreaming and hitting that crack pipe baby lol...besides the welfare sytem is a generational thing for many people, grandma and grandpa, mom and dad, kids and their kids continue to abuse it and do drugs!!

Thats twice now you've made derogatory remarks regarding crack directed at me. Let me tell you something C##T, i dont even smoke, drink, do drugs (i dont even use medicine for colds, etc) Why? Because im in perfect condition from jogging daily. How about you? Get off your lazy arse and participate in something besides stirring shit and drooling you slovenly pig. Truth be known your probably living on the west side of charleston. That would explain your knowledge of crack.

No jerkoff actually i run 5 miles a day, and I dont do drugs, smoke,or drink either. I thought it was crack making you so dumb but eveidently you are just naturally stupid. You whine and belly ache about your neighborhood drug dealer, call the cops, its a simple solution. You saying any 40 neighbor hood homes in an area are drug dealers and users is just stupid!!! before you comment on topix know your facts d#ckhead. You are the dumbest one person I have ever read comments from on topix!!!

You have no idea what hickory way is like but yet you defend the dealers and duggies that live here. Maybe you are their supplier?

You evidently must live in a gated community. Because i've seen and know how rampant drug use is. Get in touch with reality. As far as belly aching about the neighborhood drug dealer, the cops have been called. I've seen them sit around the corner and watch this drug house but instead of busting them they instead follow the buyers to rt 60 and arrest them so as to confinescate their vehicles and hauling them into court. The police are making a killing off these dealers so as to fill their coffers. You are the one that doesnt know how the system works evidently.DUMBASS. Try posting without name calling from now on. Live up to your moniker LADY wannabe! And if i remember correctly, you were the one whining about hickory way. And i still stand by my remarks that apartment complexes get a bad rap because of a few bad apples and stereotyping by ass wipes like you. And there are dealers if not users within any 40 houses in any direction.

Most women on drugs would sell their a## for a fix. And their boyfriends and/or husbands will lie, cheat and steal.

As I sit here reading the comments, it got me wondering. I'm in my mid 20's and know pretty much who all the dealers are. So, I decided to do a little math.

Out of 52 units at Hickory Way, I know of 2 actual dealers and 10 other users. The rest of the people that live there are not users but may smoke pot in the privacy of there own home (I don't count marijuana).

Now, on down Florida Street, out of 50 units/houses going all the way to the grave yard, I count 4 dealers.

Mason Street is even worse, as out of roughly 30 units I count 4.

Out of 20 units in Little Tokyo, I count at least 10 dealers and users.

Culloden area is even worse, for every third house on a nice quite street, there is a dealer or user.

On the ridge it's probably every third house too.

I grew up and live in Malcolm Springs and came name at least 30 people over the age of 18 that have been arrested and/or incarcerated for some kind of drug crime (possession or intent to distribute).

So, this guy definitely has a valid point. People who live in an apartment complex tend to get lumped into one single demographic, when it is actually quite the opposite. See, you have your losers and users, but you often have grandmas on fixed on incomes who worked their fingers to the bone for 40 years. Also, you may have that single dad who pays his child support and see's his kids as often as he can between his 2 jobs. However, one bad apple gives the entire basket a bad name.

Nobody thinks Malcolm Springs is a bad neighborhood do they? Why not? We have more drunks and pill heads that any apartment complex, I can gurantee you that. Oh, it's because our users in my neighborhood still live with their parents who keep the exterior of the home looking nice and manicured.

Instead of complaining about the apartments, how about doing something to better it. No I don't mean for the druggie adults. I mean for the kids...
If the only adults they have to model after are the ones previously mentioned, then the cycle will never be broken.

Since this lady has so much time and energy to jog 5 miles a day, perhaps you would be willing to develop an after school running program for the kids of Milton.

There are 6 apts at the Milton Hilton and 6 dealers / users in that complex what's that 100/100 well well . And I hate to inform you but there more than 2 dealers at hickory way and way more users redo your math !!!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make all out to be roses. But, I just don't think the complex is any worse than the rest of Milton. Why so hostile? Is it bc in face to face interactions your opinion has never mattered or you feel people just don't listen to you? Is easier to be taken serious when you educate yourself on the subject and on basic communication fandanentals. It's okay to be assertive, but defensive is the first sign of weakness in a debate.

I do appreciate your concern for the improvement of our community, but like the previous post asked, what are YOU doing about it? Take the time offer some kind of support for the kids and make a difference. Dragging these kids parents' name through the mud is not going to help them gain any advantages in life.

You see, I grew up in this complex, but luckily was provided with not only one parent who provided guidance, but also coaches that provide a ride to practice to make sure I was involved in something productive. Those dedicated volunteers for our youth is what Milton is so desperately needing. So, I ask you to evaluate if your doing something to help. If not, do something or quit complaining bc your only adding to the problem.
